In Eric Tulsky We Trust

Created by: PHILLYSZN
Team: 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 8, 2023
Published: Mar. 8, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sounds like Chuck Fletcher is as good as gone, and assistant GM Brent Flahr will likely go with him. Wouldn’t be surprising if there was a front office overhaul.

One man most definitely on the Flyers radar would be Eric Tulsky- local product who started out as a writer for Philadelphia blog Broad Street Hockey, now serving as assistant GM of the Carolina Hurricanes.

7th OVR: LW Andrew Cristall
13th OVR: C Brayden Yager (via BUF)

Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Östlund, Noah
  2. 2023 1st round pick (BUF)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Tulsky’s first move is a bombshell- selling high on Travis Konecny and acquiring a top Buffalo prospect in center Noah Ostlund. Along with the player, Philadelphia receives Buffalo’s 2023 1st (Brayden Yager) and a second rounder next year.
BUF
  1. Konecny, Travis
Additional Details:
Buffalo acquires a talented top-six forward with edge in the form of Travis Konecny. TK is still relatively young with his best years potentially still ahead of him. Buffalo spends a couple high draft picks to avoid giving up prospects like Savoie and Peterka.
2.
PHI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (CBJ)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Tulsky retains 37% for Hayes’ remaining term, which Columbus pays a second in this year’s draft for, along with a future third.
CBJ
  1. Hayes, Kevin ($2,642,857 retained)
Additional Details:
Hayes heads to Columbus fresh off his best season in years, reuniting with good ol’ buddy Johnny Hockey. With a certain top five draft pick, Hayes can temporarily play 1C alongside Gaudreau with Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson on the second line. Flyers retain salary for the final three years of his deal.
3.
PHI
  1. Myers, Tyler
Additional Details:
Flyers and Canucks make a directional move based on where each franchise believes they are going. Clearly not part of the future, Tulsky will likely flip Myers at the 2024 Trade Deadline.
VAN
  1. Sanheim, Travis
Additional Details:
Vancouver makes a hockey trade to rid themselves of the final year of an aging Tyler Myers in exchange for a younger long-term defenseman.

How does 2 years of Travis Konecny bring back a bigger haul than what Chicago got for 2 years of Alex Debrincat?

Canes seem likely to promote Tulsky from within, I think, once Waddell either retires or is promoted upwards (aka. McPhee/McCrimmon or Sakic/MacFarland).

Canes are likely to give Tulsky their GM job before letting him go. Can I offer you a shiny Don Waddell instead?

Has Sanheim dropped off so much for that trade to actually be considered viable as a means to clear his contract? Seems nuts to me.

I think Dundon will do the double-promotion instead and give both of them pay raises and elevated titles, a la Colorado/Vegas.

What do you promote Don to? He's already President of Hockey Operations and GM. Could take the GM role away and say it's just to keep Tulsky around, but then you run the risk of losing Yorke. The best situation may be to double-promote those two and let Don go.

Sabres aren't doing that, don't need Konecny, and he's not worth that much as you pointed out yourself

I'd throw in Rosy if it meant moving the '23 2nd to '24. More or less balances the cap, PHI gets a fill-in for Hayes who can hopefully be a TDL move. Hayes would essentially be his replacement, anyway.

Debrincat was under contract for one year and has a really tough qualitying offer this off-season. Konecney is on a great deal with two year of term. That’s why

Ah yes, rid ourselves of one year of 6 mil for 8 years at 6.25 mil.

You can keep that one, mate.

We've traded multiple 1sts during our drought.

A bit rich for only 2 years of konecny.

I would say replace ostlund with a lesser prospect and I'd be game. Depending on where the pick is.
