Habs have more use for Monty than Colton, especially since he has an extra year at 1 million.

If I'm Tampa, I shop Colton's RFA rights to try and get back some draft capital. I don't think he's gonna bring back a crazy haul, but I'm sure you can get a 2nd/3rd rounder for a solid player's rights instead of just letting him walk. Montembault's a fine goalie, but when Vasilevskiy's still starting 75% of the regular season games, I feel like it makes sense to just sign a Brian Elliott-type for that $1M cap hit and have them keep the seat warm for Hugo Alnefelt.

What part of TB is in win now mode and doesn't care picks makes you think they consider that? Alnfelt is the backup next year.

I was pointing out the ridiculous by being ridiculous but thinking critically obviously isn't your strong point. Sorry you are incapable of comprehending beyond 1+1=2.

I mean fair, but asking for a top ten 1st rounder this year to be added for Ross Colton is a bit obnoxious too lol

Montreal's GM already said he's not trading Montembault. And I doubt he'd change his mind for Ross Colton.

Montembault a 1B goalie makes 1 mil a year for another season, is top-20 in GSAA and has a better GSAA/60 than Vasilevsky this season. I'm not sure why you think a 3rd/4th line winger is worth so much more that you felt the need to be that hyperbolic, but you're wrong. Its not an unreasonable proposal for either side.

It's less about the picks and more about getting something for a guy who's going to be difficult to sign - I think you can make a legit case that Colton can push for a $3M AAV on his next contract, and Tampa only has $9.2M available for next season once you factor in Seabrook's LTIR money with only 7 forwards and 1 goalie under contract next year. They need to re-sign or replace Alex Killorn & Corey Perry, plus RFAs Colton, Tanner Jeannot, & Michael Eyssimont are all going to be due new contracts. Someone's gonna be the odd man out - and if you can get Killorn back at a fair price and move out Colton's rights for a draft pick, why not try and do that?

TB always finds a way to keep guys they want and an ok back up or a couple picks that may be helpful 3 years from now really is worthless. Colton probably gets in the 2.6 - 2.8 x4-6

He's a 3/4 liner on TB he's Top 6 on 22-27 teams in the league your not TB. Your comparing Montembault to Vasilevskiy come on now.

never forget: the picks you could get could always be traded for the next random bottom-6 winger that JBB sets his heart on!

Either way, Tampa is fascinating to watch this summer. Brisebois is a damn warlock when it comes to the dark arts of the salary cap.

I agree just can't see Colton going anywhere unless JBB gets absolutely blown away by an offer.

Jonathan Marchessault was a 4th liner / black ace for TB top 6 in both Florida and Vegas. Carter Verheaghe 4th liner black ace in TB Top 6 in Florida Taylor Raddysh 4Th liner black ace in TB top 6 in Chicago. Colton is far better than all 3

The only obnoxious person here is you. Welcome to my blocked list! smile

I welcome posts that can be learned from, used to guide better builds, or draw insight that I otherwise didn't have.
All you've done here is stir the pot, critique nothing and argue about something baseless from people who just wanted to talk hockey. That isn't deserved.

People like YOU make this website worse than it needs to be.
