For my Ranger friends

Created by: Kyle_Okposo_Lover
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 10, 2023
Published: Mar. 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Basis for Goodrow deal
- It is bound to happen
- Ideally not in east, 100% not in Metro
- Would need to be willing to waive 15 team NTC or go to team not on NTC
- Not cap strapped, could use middle six depth
Oilers (move out Foegele, Kulak, Yamamoto)
Flames (sell some pieces and can afford if retooling)
Blues (looking to retool)
Wild (less likely but possible, doesnt make sense long term tho)

Tarasenko Signing:
- He signs for lower AAV for a term he likely wouldnt get in free market
- 20 team NTC but buyout friendly
- Rangers suck up term, accept they will have to dump if he falls off in 3-4 years

Chytil and Miller:
- Can either give term now and not sign Tarasenko or suck up that if they continue to do great (Miller only growing, Chytil bound to regress) that they will need to fetch out big money in two year
- Both deals are back heavy so the QOs are 6 mil for Chytil and 6.5 mil for Miller, forcing them to get paid or be UFAs
- Line them up. I believe both will remain RFAs still (if not give them more term now) so sycning them is best

Laf signing:
- 11/18 assists are secondary assists, he is not playing well. Analytics are not very good. A trade seems likely, bridge contract is a lock

Goalie:
- Any backup for one year, Garand ETA is 2024-25

Teams aren't going to be begging to take on Goodrow's deal with that term. I think Rangers will have to give up assets to move that deal; I don't think they're getting positive value for him

Goodrow doesn't have negative value because of his contracts. He's a good 200 foot player who throws the body, its just the rangers are in a bad position because they love to get free agent.

Why would Edmonton do that? They already have Foegele who does everything better than Goodrow for a million dollars less, and without the risk of term attached.

He's a stud that most coaches want. He'll be better term than most 3c/f ufas that get overpaid this summer. Definitely positive value, yet tricky matching ntc & cap space team.

Funny

Goodrow v Foegele, NST

I invite your counterpoint. Silly one word answers aren't going to cut it.

Rangers fans overrating their players again. Goodrow is not worth 3.6m per over the next few years. What’s he got? 4 years left? That’s a horrible deal

Cute chart, now ask any coach which they'd prefer, again one word...

I made some calls, 28 of 32 went with Foegele when presented with this evidence.

You'd likely have to pay Edmonton to take Goodrow, maybe some team with cap might want him but we have replacements ready and are tight to the cap already.

Does Foegele play Center and PK? Goodrow has played the floater role with adeptness, fits in on any line and in any position when needed, and provides leadership in the B6. He is a GG favorite and Drury does not want to lose him (of course due to the Cap he might have to, but I tend to think this won't happen). If Foegele is thought of in the same light by the Oilers then they have a keeper. My impression was that his play hasn't been as effective since the Oilers acquired him.

He's certainly been more effective than Goodrow, the link I posted earlier shows that quite clearly.

Foegele does NOT play center. But that's not a problem for a team that already has McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins and McLeod at center. (I wouldn't be surprised if Bjugstad re-signs, either.) Edmonton needs wingers, not centers.

Because of that there may well be teams out there willing to acquire Goodrow to augment their center depth, but Edmonton isn't one of them.

Bait you? Could care less about that stuff, just think your post is nonsense. What else needs to be said? We disagree.

The thing is i spent a lot of times on my post, and you just come in here and hate without making any points. I love discourse and being convinced to change my perspective for the better, I just want people to explain to me their reasoning. Since you are so confident, I would really appreciate an explanation on where we disagree

We have vastly different opinions, like a Christian and an Atheist on religion, so what would be the point? I disagree with your take, and that's my opinion. You don't have to like it.

But do you understand the hypocrisy of coming in here, saying everything is wrong and then not listing one example of where you disagree? Is it the lines, signings, trade? Just name one thing. Im not stubborn lmao

Hypocrisy? LOL. It's a hockey forum, get over yourself. Not my fault you spend hours writing up trades. I disagree with your opinions on the matter and not interested in debating you about them since our thoughts are so far apart, do you understand that?

Yet you cannot just simply say one word as to why you disagree. You are far too ignorant lol. I like to keep my forums to hockey, not personal attacks and hating without reason. All I am asking for is a simple "I disagree with ___"

Saying I disagree is not a personal attack. Calling me ignorant is however. So grow up maybe?
