Boston declines. Have 3 better, cheaper options than DeSmith internally.

Boston matches offer and probably trades Ullmark for more than a 2nd to make the room for Swayman. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So you’re giving up the Vezina winner? If so I’d send our 2023 1st, Joel Bloomqist (goalie prospect) and either Hallander or Nylander for Ullmark.

They’re saving millions and 2 of the 3 players in that deal could play for them on the cheap next year.

The whole point is to save them a few million in space and get them a cheap backup. If they trade Ullmark I’m all for that.

What the pens should have done when Jarry was injured was brought up Lindberg instead of Tokarski because they know DeSmith and Tokarski are average at best backups and couldn’t handle the load. At least that would be the worst you get in Lindberg and you get to know if he is someone you could find a place in the future.

They will make every effort to sign Sway to a bridge deal and keep both. But if their hand is forced they would likely move Ullmark as the return would be bigger, his value would never be higher, the cap hit would be less, and he only has 2 years left on his deal whereas Sway would be around long term. Also if they match an OS they can’t trade him for a year. That being said the market for Ullmark would actually be fewer teams than Sway. Most competitive teams have their goalie, most rebuilding teams a goalie with a 2 year deal does not fit their window. They might have an easier time moving Swayman. And they would get more than a 2nd than the offer sheet would bring.

And no on that offer for Ullmark.

You think they may trade one of Forbert or Gryz and dump Reilly to get Swayman signed?

They are going to have shed cap regardless.

2 possibly 3 of of Grizz Forbort Reilly Zboril will
likely be gone. Taylor Hall could be moved as well.

They are going to be cap tight and few options that can move. It’s not ideal but they can’t move centers. Are not moving Pasta, Marchy, Mac, Lindholm, or Debrusk. Nobody else has a cap hit that works. Coyle is a center and harder to replace. Carlo but they are pretty shallow org wise on RD. Hall makes the most sense and can get a decent return. They will try not to. But if it comes to it logically he’d be the one.
