You're not getting Pettersson and Kuzmenko without even including Seider...

That would be really bad for Detroit even though Pettersson is Ellie.

I think that #1 centers are truly that valuable and Detroit has had terrible luck in the upper tiers of the draft for years, being within inches of getting one but consistently getting too low at the draft table to acquire one. A trade like this would IMO be the best way to finally ram one into the lineup.

Ive said it before but Pettersson is just a player u don't trade (Like Mcdavid,Matthews,Makar,J.Hughes) he just won't be moved ever unless on his own terms where he requests out

Oh I 100% agree with you. I just think that the current Vancouver situation is such a horrific tire fire that a trade request may genuinely be an inevitable outcome.

It isn't as horrific as you think. Definitely not a great place to be in, however at least they have fantastic building blocks. Pettersson is that building block. No Seider means no Pettersson. Trading for both Pettersson and Kuzmenko without even giving up Seider would be insulting to the Canucks management.

Detroit's not an Elias Pettersson away from contending, So no way way too much to give up for a team that's still a long ways away from contending.

Is Larkin not a 1C? Maybe he is not a top-10 guy but I think Detroit can still be successful with him. Just go get another top-6 center

Yes and no. I do agree in some facets but this team isn't a contender with just Elias Pettersson. Marko Kasper actually playing quite well in the SHL and showing he has more offence than what was thought predraft. He is currently rated #10 of all drafted prospects by the hockey writers. He could very well develop into that 1/2C . Also if this draft is as deep as everyone says it is, we could potentially get that player with that pick. Also trading Edvinsson is such a mistake since he is currently rated #2 behind only Luke Hughes. The building blocks we would get from those picks and the ones we would have to recoup for giving up those players are more important. We have a nice prospect pool but not all will make it. Also by the time we actually would be competitive, which I think would take longer giving up those pieces, Pettersson will need a new contract and cost 11+M.

Neither team accepts this trade. "You just don't trade a player like Pettersson." might be one of the smartest things I've read on this site. At the same time Detroit just doesn't have enough pieces in place to make a trade like that work in their favor.

While I don't think the Wings should do the trade, a trade of Peterson might be a real possibility next summer. If you doesn't want to sign long term with the Canucks, he can be a UFA in the summer of 2025.

Likely? Horvat wasn't, Trouba and looks like PLD didn't want extend with Winnipeg. Tkachuk of Flames. Yes, if a player wants long term security he signs....yep this nis for most players. But besides that reason, Petterson doesn't really have any other reason to give any more time of his career with the Canucks.

Canucks prioritzed signing Miller over signing Horvat because Miller is the better player. Who else do the Canucks need to sign this summer?

?????? Not that a disagree with the Horvat trade, or Horvat's decision not to sign long term with the Canucks, but c'mon, the Canucks aren't that talent or cap laden that they couldn't afford both Miller and Horvat.

I mean if you looked at their cap situation, you could see that they can't afford to pay both of them 8 million dollars... There is also a big difference between a pending UFA and a pending RFA

Even if they could have afforded Horvat 8.5 there is no way the Canucks should have kept him at that price, We essentially turned Horvat into a top 6 winger a top 4 rhd and a prospect while still having the cap space to make the team better.

Sure they could afford Horvat.....1m in actual $$$$ Myers is an easy trade. Well if they couldn't afford Horvat, it shows the sad state of the Canucks. Can't afford to pay their 3rd best forward. No wonder why Horvat wanted to leave, and the reason I think Pettersson doesn't want to stay either (unless it's strictly for money)

Horvat is absolutely not worth 8.5 mil. I love Horvat but his one good season does not get him an 8.5x8. The Canucks couldn't afford to overpay him like that. Pettersson on the other hand is likely worth whatever he is asking for
