I’d much rather have the Granlund trade and not do the ducks trade. It’s not even close either. Gibson is hot garbage. There is no reason to give up Jarry who is superior and a 1st to take on that Gibson contract that is even worse than Carters.

I wouldn't do that trade either, but Jarry better than Gibson???? Noooooooo way. Gibson is way way better. I don't care that his stats are worse, the Ducks are one of the worst defensive teams I've ever seen. Jarry's SV% would be in the 85-90% range on that Ducks team. And Gibson has proven himself in playoffs and clutch moments.

That’s just a ludicrous statement. The pens defense is god awful at defending too. It’s maybe a slight upgrade to Anaheim. The constant breakaways and 2 on 1’s show that.
How many playoff wins does Gibson have in the past like 7 years? His last playoffs he had a 3.6 GAA and a .889 save percentage.
Goalies have played well on bad teams before. There is no reason to pay for a goalie that has looked like hot garbage, regardless of the team he is on.

Jarry has only won 2 playoff games, never won a series, and is either hurt or unreliable in the biggest moments. What has he proven? When's the last time Jarry has stolen a game for the team or come up clutch? Yeah our defense is complete trash, but Anaheim literally doesn't defend. They're also tanking while were fighting for a playoff spot. I wouldn't trade for Gibson, not worth it for what it would cost. But in no way is Jarry better than him. It's far from ludicrous majority of people would take Gibson over Jarry and it's not even close.

Vanececk has a better GSAA than Vasilevsky, only has played 8 less games then him (less than the gap between Jarry and Gibson, Gibson has played in 11 more). You think he's better than Vasilevsky as well? Vasilevsky is ranked 18 so you think he's the 18th best goalie? Clearly Jarry having a better GSAA than Gibson doesn't make him better.

Vanacek doesnt have a better GSAA than Vasy. Vasy has a 7+ GSAA. Vanacek has a negative GSAA.

Was looking at GA/G, you got me there. I still think it's unfair to say I'm a troll because I think Gibson is better than Jarry. You can have a different opinion and I understand why you think that, but around the league I think it's clear that Gibson is regarded as a better goalie. There are so many different factors and stats, it can be debated which one matters more. I don't think GSAA is the most important or tells the whole story, but that's another discussion. Jarry's SV% since December is brutal and stats aside just watching him play he has not been good. The injuries are also a concern. The reality is that when the stakes are raised he has either been hurt or not at his best. He has not proven himself in playoffs and has been bad when under more pressure. Now I wouldn't go trading for Gibson, I think his value is being way way overblown on the trade market, but I would take him over Jarry 100%.

If you don’t understand analytics that’s fine but GSAA (Goals Saved Above Average) is absolutely one of the most important stats to judge a goalie. It is pretty much the equivalent to WAR (Wins Above Replacement) to other sports. It’s not like I’m comparing Jarry to Gibson just this year either. This has been 5 years. If Gibson just had 1 off year, then you’d have a point. But it’s been 5+ years now. Other goalies have been good on bad teams and have good GSAA. For example Stalock plays on a garbage hawks team and has an incredible GSAA
