Personally I don't think this is enough still. I think it has to be a first going over too.

First of all, that offer is suuuper weak and wouldn't even elicit a response. But also, just including Formenton in an offer for anyone, let alone a cornerstone, is wild, man. You have to know that's instantly a wrong idea.

Formenron is persona non grata right now. Until the whole scandal is resolved he will not be playing in the NHL let alone the AHL.

Obviously the Sens are NOT ready if that's all they offer.

Adding the Parayko deal would have been a bad idea in the first place, with the Chychrun addition it makes even less sense. There's simply not room for him, and even if there was, that contract is not good. Gonna be a boat anchor deal.

The contract is just fine. The problem is the Sens are running out of cap. The whole thing would hinge on if they are planning ion signing Debrincat. If they sign him there's no room for Parayko, esp with Chych and Sanderson needing big extensions in the next few years.

That being said, the offer is too low. A first in 25, JBD and a decent forward prospect, if STL is serious about moving him.

Everything but the last sentence is A+ here. Someone else would smash that offer.

It's possible, but this is the max OTT could offer with their current cap structure (unless they were dumping a contract), Unless they move Chabot to make room for Parayko.. Then they can increase the offer since they'd have additional cap and could afford to lose a few more young entry level contracts.

That being said, the D man STL should move is Krug, but they won't get the return that would come back for Parayko.

Leddy doesn't hurt as bad......less injury prone and better cap hit. I'd actually move Scandella over Leddy

Leddy is brutal, and he's signed for more and for longer than Scandella. Moving Scandella doesn't help them.

He's 29, man. A long way to go until we get to his late 30's, by which point his percentage of cap expense will be a good bit lower. A couple seasons at the end of the deal doesn't make it an anchor contract. Besides, there are plenty of Dmen with much more taxing playing styles who were quite useful past 35.

The last 3-5 years of his contract will be the major peak for the Sens.

His contract is terrifying, considering that he is already not good.

Setting aside the fact that saying he's not good is a bulletproof admission that you never actually watch him play, his contract is far from terrifying. By the back end of it, the cap will probably be up near 100M and there's a fair chance he'll age gracefully anyway as his style is not overly physical.
