I didn’t think harts value was very high. I guess I was wrong, my bad. I was more thinking of it like a reclamation project or just a tough contract for a year. I’d just replace that with any other back up if hart has significant value.

Also, I didn’t think petry would waive, but if he does, it’s a good swap for both teams in my opinion.

IF we were to overpay we'd pull a CAR knowing just like KK wanted to play in Finlands unofficial landing spot for them since Teemu retired from ANA .
We know similar circumstances exist and can trust if we push his QO up to 8m he'll understand that's the max value we associate with him .

If WPG matched him though at 8.4m x 1 year they'd have to move a big contract to sign a credible roster with their cap next year.

8.4m puts them in a bad enough way Matching isnt worth it just like with Kotkanemi.
We coulda matched but to be honest he woulda had the leverage in contract talks going forward and we likely woulda paid 6m+ with term .

I've watched a lot of Jeff Petry, and I disagree. Pionk and Petry are fairly comprable offensively this year, and Pionk's defense is far worse. The only reason we would consider this is if we were dead set at getting younger.
