Guys, this is a steal for Hart. I like Beck a lot, but him and not having to give up your own first rounder? He's still an RFA after this contract. You sign a 3 year bridge at 3x4 and MTL is cooking............OK wait, don't make the trade.......I hate MTL LOL

He can't even put a .910%. Not a really upgrade to Monty, not at the cost of 15th OA and Beck

Have you seen the team that's in front of him??? He's a huge upgrade on Monty. Worst case scenario, you include allen in the trade. You gotta build from the crease out, and he's young enough to fit the Habs timeline

Have you even seem Monty play and the team in front of him. Saying Hart can't put up a .910 sv% because of the team in front of him and then saying Monty sucks when he has a similar sv% on a worse team is laughable. Is Hart better than Monty, he was up until this season (which could be an outlier for Monty) but Monty seems to have turned the corner and is getting better and better. I like Hart and would love to have him but trading top futures right now with so many other holes in the lineup doesn't seem like a smart move right now. Besides all that ,Dobes and Primeau are already here, let's see how much more they develop before our window opens then decide what to do about the goalie situation. We can kick the goalie situation down the road 1-2 seasons before we really need to address it.

If you guys are comfortable with the tandem you have, by all means, stick with them and save the assets. But I firmly believe Hart is worth more than a mid round first and Beck. He might not be a fit for MTL, but this is the minimum Philly is going to get for him IMO. The Philly D is much worse and less promising than the current MTL D. I never said Monty sucks, I said Hart would be a huge upgrade. IMO, MTL is a better team than Philly. They've just been decimated with injuries on key players.

If you want to see how good Monty has been this year check out the game tonight. Shots are 30-11 in the second period and Habs are up 4-3. This is typical Monty this year, getting severely outshot yet either winning or keeping the game close and not just against weak teams like the Sharks or Ducks either this is the Pens tonight, last night he came in and settled things down for the Habs only allowing 2 goals on 18 shots after Allen let in 6 on 14 shots.

Sounds like a Grant Fuhr situation................give up 4-5 a night, but hold the team in and not let the back breaker in. Problem is, the Habs (on most nights) don't have the offense that the Oilers of the 80's do.

Either way, if he's earned the chance, run with him.

We wouldn’t have to give our own 1st rounded anyway. What makes you think Hart is worth that much?

Giving up the Florida pick and then maybe a minor asset on top of that could make sense, but they sure as hell aren’t getting that pick and arguably our best prospect.. no other team would give that kind of value either.

My view on Hart's worth is that he is a true # 1, and he has club control for another 3 years. Philly is an absolute mess. The GM was a joke (they finally rectified that situation). The locker room (by all accounts) has been a disaster for the last number of years. They brought in Torts to fix that, but my opinion is it's probably too much of a swing from one side to the other and hasn't really worked. The team is a mess on the ice. A couple more years of this and hart won't be worth that.

I'm speaking from experience. I've witnessed some really terrible Leafs teams (not just on the ice, but ownership and management too) destroy some really good young goalies. MTL has an excellent GM in place, a very good coach and has a good base for the future on the ice. Hart is still young enough to grow with the team. As bad as MTL has been this year, the Philly situation is much worse.

But, as I said before, if you guys feel Monty can be just as good in the long term, run with him. I haven't seen enough of him this year to make that call.

I would love to see the Habs get Hart, I’m just disagreeing with the price. I think the Florida 1st makes sense but I doubt any other team is going to offer that on top of a piece like Beck.
