Description

There have been some speculation about OEL's career being finished and if it is, man Vancouver goes from CAP hell to being in a really good place.

Center:
Still needs work, Great 1-2 punch with Petterson and Miller Aman looks like he could end up being a great 4C maybe even 3C Karlson might work out maybe after a season in the NHL he turns out to be a solid 3C for this team. No real Depth at the position coming from the AHL yet Aatu Ratty still needs to work on his game and really Dries has been a placeholder for the 2nd half of this season for the Canucks

Wingers:
We still have too many wingers but that's a win for us either way, if Vancouver overperforms and makes the playoffs we have great depth on the wing, If we fall out of the race come trade deadline we have options for teams looking.

Defense:
Goes from one of the most overpayed underperforming blue lines to one that while not a top blue line in the NHL maybe top 15 possibly top 10 and I will take that with our Goaltending/Forwards. If we can build on this season and then 24/25 once Mantha comes off the books we can find a true top 4 LHD to play with Hronek and Wolanin can shift down to 3rd pairing and put Burroughs as your extra D. Bear gets QO'd and see how he does vs younger D prospects hungry for a spot. Gives you security that you have a partner for Hughes that isn't Hronek keeping Depth on your top 4, worse case you have Bear partnered with Hughes for another season best case Livingston/Iorio Take 1 and 3 RHD spots and Bear becomes a Depth option for injuries for the season.

Goalies:
What's not to like Demko is a top Goalie in the league and Silovs looks like he is really building his game well to be mentored as a replacement for Demmer in 3-5 years.

The following 3 season we have more than enough cap to Sign a top 4 LHD and find your 3C, Extend Petterson for what should be the Majority of his career, Extend Kuz if he keeps his play up. Could truly be in a playoff window in 2 years......"IF OEL IS DONE"

This is not a top defense core. Need an upgrade on 2LD at minimum and need Livingstone to actually be good

I would argue they are better than 50% of the D cores out there. If Livingstone isn't as good as we hope maybe Iorio is and if not still have Bear who has been serviceable with Hughes and one of the other 2 fills in at 3RHD. Wolanin has a great stride and good hockey IQ he can fill the defensive 2LHD and let the Canucks be patient in finding who they want either during our after the 23/24 season
