Devils New Marty

Description
The Blues trade just feels like it would be fun, if not realistic. Mantha and Vrana on the same team, the Blues get a guy that wants to prove he still has the talent he showed earlier on an expiring deal, with a similar skill set and role as Buchnevich, plus a couple picks to help the rebuild. Malenstyn would be a good 4th liner for them, too.

Waffled between the two future 3rds and the current year Caps' 2nd. Feels about equivalent, but either/or feels fair.

Anyway, I'd rather the Caps trade Fehervary and get someone like Graves. I'm not a fan of Marty's game, so swap the rights, get a pick back for the younger player with an RFA, and get some size on the backend.

Then why did you propose the trade from the capitals side when your devils fans and disagree with your own value

I didn't propose this trade? And this trade was proposed by a capitals fan.

We should make an acgm together.

Go to the Season thread so we could discuss.

We can discuss options.
I love the Branny trade I made yesterday. And your laf trade with 10oa. Maybe we wouldn’t have to add McMichael but maybe another decent prospect like persson or bodan. Young talent is what we need. Keller would be huge but a player like him you think he would have same impact like sandin right away. We don’t have any time to wait for guys to get ready. Next year is one of our last years man. Not saying anything about Mieier but I don’t see a fit with the devils. Don’t want the same with Keller. Getting star players. Anyways I love Keller.

If I’m Washington my major targets are

1) Keller
2)Roberson (cheap w great shot)
3)Garland (cheap to acquire)
4)Schmaltz

Capitals D is pretty set.

Cool, glad to hear that.

He would be playing in Utica if traded to the devils.

Yes. Good talk. Kind of a waste of time further discussing MF with you bc you seem ignorant to his abilities and clueless on his value. But have a great day lol

let's start off: Jonas Siegenthaler, Luke Hughes. He's already down to 3rd pairing LHD.

Btw he's one of 2 only 2 capitals with a negative GSVA.

Assuming devils want to resign graves (which they can afford to do) he now no longer has a spot.

You can argue if you want about Kevin Bahl but he's younger and has better metrics this year

Again I was done with you after you claimed getting MF for a 3rd was outrageous. I actually laughed really hard then had to ask if you were dumb. You then doubled down and I realized it was pointless to continue talking to you.

GSVA is extremely flawed but like most analytics they are to be used w context Not just as a god like stat.

Colour me shocked that a montreal fan thinks GSVA is awful considering GSVA says nearly their entire team is overpaid which they can't seem to believe and get through their heads

The idea of the devils trading a 3rd round pick (and the rights to an extremely talented player) for a player who will not be a regular in their lineup is ridiculous yes

10oa pick + McM + Iorio? Feels like that could get them very close

McM doesn't really do much for us to be honest. We need top tier defensive prospects. This draft unfortunately doesn't really have that. Also, we already have the 9 OA pick. Armstrong just really isn't looking for a full-fledge rebuild. I don't think Iorio is bad by any means but i think he profiles if he makes it to the NHL as more of a defensive possible bottom pair guy

Idk watching him play this year he could easily slot into a top 4 spot. He’s only 20 and is the Bears best D man. He would comfortably be a #4 on a playoff team once he’s fully developed imo. McM is elite. I’m telling people that he is constantly being slept on by people. He was Cozen direct comparable 2 years ago going into the WJC. Washington is just known for criminally underutilizing young talent.

Vrana Bura Stephenson Seig Sprong Boyd Vanecek Samsonov … wouldn’t be shocked if they trade him and he becomes a Stephenson 2.0.

On this one, I will have to strongly disagree.

Fehervary is a very strong young dman that would return similar value as Rasmus Sandin or Nils Lundkvist, if not more.

GAR for dmen age 22 & under (2022-23):
1. Rasmus Dahlin 18.2
2. Quinn Hughes 17.6
3. Owen Power 9.7
4. Philip Broberg 8.2
5. Evan Bouchard 8.1
6. Jordan Harris 7.5
7t. Jake Sanderson 5.6
7t. Martin Fehervary 5.6
9. K'Andre Miller 4.7
10. Cam York 4.3
11. Rasmus Sandin 4.1
12. Braden Schneider 3.9
13. Brandt Clarke 3.7
14. Bowen Byram 3.5
15. Adam Boqvist 3.2

Just for point of reference, NJD dmen in D+5 season, Jonas Siegenthaler had 5.1 and Ryan Graves was in AHL.

I wouldn't flinch at snagging him for a 3rd and Graves' rights.

Fehervary is not 22 or under. He's halfway to 24.

I am using the filters on Evolving Hockey which uses age at start of season.

If you want to add age-23...it doesn't really change the point being made here.

GAR for dmen age 23 & under (2022-23):

1. Rasmus Dahlin 18.2
2. Quinn Hughes 17.6
3. Cale Makar 14.4
4t. Owen Power 9.7
4t. Juuso Valimaki 9.7
6. Philip Broberg 8.2
7. Evan Bouchard 8.1
8. Jordan Harris 7.5
9. Pierre-Olivier Joseph 6.9

14. Dylan Samberg 4.6
15. Cam York 4.3
16. Rasmus Sandin 4.1
17. Braden Schneider 3.9
18t. Bowen Byram 3.5
18t. Timothy Liljegren 3.5
20. Sean Durzi 3.3
21. Adam Boqvist 3.2

That's an awfully big gamble to think he will become a top tier player. Hope he does, but there is virtually nothing to suggest that he will. You are doing a good job of selling your guys. But realistically the Blues need a sure thing if they're going to move Buch. We have alot of ammo currently to build up. We have a great forward Prospect pool. What we lack is a true top end defenseman that's young. I don't think the Blues are even considering moving Buchnevich. I guess the more that I look into it the Capitals do have Fehrevary and Sandin that could fit that bill. They're probably both top 4 d men that are young. But with that we'd have to move out one of Leddy/Krug to even give them the proper ice time that they'd need with where they are currently at in their development. Unfortunately, we're better off keeping our elite player and hoping the rest of the team rebounds mainly defense to reconsider which direction to go. We have time, I don't think he loses much value going from this year to next.
