If rumors of him wanting to go to California are true, they just wait until seasons end, sign him to what they would have to sign him, keep all these assets and be a legit playoff contender vs. having to re-tool because they dumped everyone they had.

I understand, and completely agree with, your annoyance at the earlier post, but there IS no Matthews trade that makes sense, any more than there is a McDavid trade that makes sense, or a MacKinnon trade that makes sense, or a Makar trade that makes sense, or a Fox trade that makes sense, or, believe it or not, a Luke -- not Jack, Luke -- Hughes trade that makes sense. Gretzky and Karlsson trades come around every twenty-five years or so and require specific circumstances.

But, like I said, having seen enough Jake-Muzzin-to-Los-Angeles trades, and more than enough John-Gibson-for-nothing-trades-because-he's-hot-garbage, I can feel your pain, and sympathize.
