Enough with the 7 d.

Bobby McMann is heavily overrated by much of Leafs fandom

I agree, 7d is annoying but at the end of the day its whatever works best. I don't see it continuing in the playoffs but TB won 2 cups with 7d so can't rule it out entirely with this roster.

I don't know, McMann is intriguing to me. You rarely see a guy putting up the numbers he has that have his physical game and speed. The only guys in the last decade to really score at a similar clip in the AHL would be Frk, Barber, Gadjovich, Vatrano, and Pulkkinen. None of them really have the combination of size, speed and 2-way ability McMann does. In any event, at the very least he is an upgrade on ZAR IMO.

He's 26 and was 1/4 point per game in the ahl at 24. It's possible he's the next Alex burrows or maybe Marchmont but that's about the end of the list that found their offensive game that late in their development. I just don't buy this scoring being more than a hot streak. It's essentially unheard of.

And why is he an upgrade on ZAR? ZAR is no world beater but he is as or more physical. Has scored more in the NHL than McMann (zero), and is solid two way and average offensively for a fourth liner...

Nothing against ZAR, but I think McMann can be a more impactful player bringing nearly as good 2-way play with more offensive pop and seemingly better in transition and creating turnovers and retrieving the puck. I could be wrong of course. Only way to find out is for the Leafs to call him up which they are taking forever to do for some reason.

I just don't believe he actually has offensive pop above ZAR. At same age there was no comparison. He has had a bunch of goals in a small number of games this year. So is this year a development way beyond what could reasonably be expected or just a heater? My guess is latter. But you never know as you say
