Why would you sign compher to that deal for a retool?

Or sign him to that deal under any circumstance

Way too much from Winnipeg for a player that does nothing for them.

You should have offered that to the Blues at the TDL. I mean it's still possible, but they'd have jumped at it then.

Most of these deals (trades and UFA signings) are horrible for the Bruins, and you kept Mike Reilly?!

They'd jump on it at anytime. That's an awful deal for the Bruins.

While it may be awful for the Bruins, the Blues may not have room for him this summer. If an LD goes, then sure. As is, they probably say we'll get back to you shortly.

Hall and Ebs back together again!

I don't see Edmonton touching that deal. DeBrusk is barely outscoring Foegele despite playing with better linemates.

Foegele v DeBrusk at 5v5

They value Holloway highly, they won't use him as a throw-in to get a modest improvement and 3LW and a few hundred thousand in cap savings.

Every single trade here is F- bad for Boston. Just torching assets for nothing. 0/10.

Jake debrusk is really good at powerplay and penalty kill. Putting him and Foegele in the same paragraph is an injustice.

He's wouldn't be getting 1st unit time in Edmonton and the 2nd unit doesn't play much, so that has limited appeal for the Oilers.

He's also not a primary or secondary option for the PK in Boston, there are 5 forwards with greater TOI on the PK.

He'd be 2rd line LW in Edmonton with a limited special teams role, similar usage to Foegele. Therefore it makes perfect sense to compare them.

He might well be a slight upgrade and in this scenario saves the Oilers $750k for one year, but that's not worth sending Dylan Holloway the other way. (Actually I don't think it would save them that much as they'd have to replace Holloway on next year's roster and that would likely cost more than Holloway's ELC).

Actually I'm surprised to see that Boston's PP is outside the top-10 in the league. I would have thought it would be better than that.

It has really dropped off in the second half - 27th in the league since January 1st. Yikes.

They’ve been absolutely brutal. The first unit is in a funk. Second unit looks better.

Where he fits in in edmonton on the PP doesn’t affect his value. There are 30 other teams in the league.

He’s #2 in shorthanded TOI among bruins wingers, two whole seconds behind marchand.

He’s so much better than Foegele. Watching one shift would tell ya that.

Have fun with that Compher contract a year into. Love JT but dude is a 35pt Swiss Army knife that is really nice to have to play in the bottom 6 and be a spot top 6 player, but I keep waiting for his production to take a major 10 game+ pause.

We’re probably the wrong team for this. Entire D corps is still locked up next year and that would take away money for a Theo extension that will need to be thought about soon

Um, when we're discussing a trade to Edmonton, it's 100% relevant. They aren't going to pay for something they don't need, it's as simple as that. Therefore they reject the trade offer, whether you think it's FMV or not.

There's your issue. Forwards don't play "wing" when shorthanded, so only comparing him to other wingers doesn't give you an accurate picture if his usage.

If he was so much better it would show in his results. It doesn't. Particularly concerning is his super low IPP at 5v5. He's clearly a complimentary piece who relies on others around him to create chances and drive play.

1. The value is too good for them to turn this down. When a team offers a gift, other GMs take it.
2. He’s 5th among forwards in short handed time for boston. He’s two seconds behind marchand. It’s not like the bruins lock in on four PK forwards.
3. It does show
4. I don’t know what IPP is, nor do I have any desire to. Watch. It’s very clear. You can’t understand hockey looking at spread sheets.

1. This is a bad deal for Edmonton. The value is bad. Foegele provides 90% of the scoring DeBrusk does while doing some other things better (physicality, defense). Holloway is a top prospect.
2. Meh. So he can PK. That's what minimum wage 4th liners are for.
3. Prove it. I provided numbers, you got nothing.
4. The percentage of points a player gets compared to how many goals he's on the ice for. Shows how involved he is in creating offense or if he's riding coattails. DeBrusk is riding coattails.

Sorry buddy, i just think every single thing you just said is intensely stupid. Watch hockey. It’s a fun sport to watch. It’s boring to read spread sheets. He carries that line frequently.
