At Draft

Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2023
Published: Mar. 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I send Salkovsky to the AHL to build up and gain confidence with his buddy Mesar who I would bring in the AHL.. I send our first overall to the AHL also to get ready in a year or so, unless we hit the jackpot and get the 1st overall by chance and take Bedard..

By trading for Dubois and Mantha, I'll need to provide quality players/picks to WASH and WIN to get them going or have experience and value to their team while offering cap space to WASH.

Your opinion.

And Dach isn't untouchable.

This is what's bad about being a Habs fan, some think our players are actually 1st liners on any team. Dach isn't a first liner. We all like Suzuki, we all want to keep Suzuki, but do you realize he's not even a top 30 center in the league right now? He's been sitting between the 43rd and 46th position in the leaders board for centers.. 43rd that was WITH Caufiled in the lineup.. 80 to 85 in all forwards.. Yet he's our first liner, we accept it, we like him. But there are other players out there that are able to put up better stats right now. 45 of them actually. Dach ain't even top 100, even if' he only 22. Dubois is only 24.. He's sitting at 59th for all forwards.. 26 players ahead of Suzuki our best player...

To get Dubois, you would need to move a card like Dach who has that potentail and current value of a second liner, give away quatlity picks and a quality prospect and WIN may move on it to get rid of the pain of having to comment every month about the Dubois contract.

As for Hutson, has good as he is right now, he's 5'09" and only has one year in University. Not so many players are Bouillon type players, Once he gets to the NHL, it may or may not be a great success. He still as 3 years to go before we can even think about moving him in the AHL, and we have others right now that are potentially able to play in the NHL in 2/3 years.

Stop jumping on a bandwagon because a player is hot right now and they mention their name in the media. Looks at the facts, and ask yourself if you would be on the other team, what would it take to get the player who's targeted.

My move doesn't close the rebuild by having no more picks, it provides a fair deal between teams, and helps improve our roster by moving assets.

I didn't say Dach was untouchable, I said he's not being traded.
You don't skip Wright to draft Slafkovsky, trade away Romanov, and use that 13th overall pick to acquire Dach, only to flip him at the next draft.

I'm not the one jumping on a bandwagon because a player has been mentioned in the media. That's exactly what all the Dubois to Montreal noise is.

Hutson is showing high potential beyond expectations. I didn't say he was untouchable, just that it doesn't make sense to move him unless the return is a 1st ("or equivalent" is implicit).
Yes, his size is a factor. That doesn't mean he can't be effective.

Suzuki and Dach are still developing. It doesn't matter where they rank as long as they continue to develop and peak at the right time. Not everyone starts as a p/g player.

Dach is the only one who will not be traded that you've listed (as explained above). Without him included it's more reasonable (but still on the high end).
What are we going to do with a 1st line center next season? Finish 9th last instead of 7th?
Better off drafting for now and looking at signings/trades when we're closer to the playoffs.

What? Two first, Dach, prospects... WIN get what they want, Dubois gets what he wants, Habs get Dubois.. WIN are not going to get much more since he made it clear, no long term unless it's with Habs.. So WIN get undervalue for their guy.. Unfortunately. Habs give up a bit with straight up potential.. both win in this.

I know, but at this point GM's don't let top 3 players leave for nothing. I put in a deal he can't refuse. I know.. it's a lot.. But it's the deal that moves Dubois now instead of waiting and hoping he comes in i ntwo years, which could never happen if we don't move him now and have him sign at a lower cost than in two years from now.

Also not taking the risk that he'll find another team under the sun, with hot weather 12 months a year without pressure and move there! LOL!
