Petry if healthy isn't a terrible option for 2 years he's got left. He wouldn't be plan A but the Rd ufa market isn't great. Could sign Mayfield or Clifton but there is no real solution.

Yeah, if we don't get Severson, I would want to fill the hole temporarily with someone like Petry. This assumes we don't get Severson smile

I'm stuck in the middle of that Lindholm trade. Like obviously it favors Detroit but at the same time Lindholm will be turning 29 next season and will want a substantial raise the season after. Almost guaranteed he's going to want to chase the most money possible since it would likely be his last contract. I would expect 8-9M and it would take him to like 38 years old. That first round pick, if the player pans out, could give us alot more years with less cap hit.

"if the player pans out" ... that is always the gamble!

Oh I agree. I think Lindholm is elite, especially defensively, so he would obviously be a great add. Just some really good young players in this draft. You could make the argument that Lindholm may regress, could be significantly, considering he is heading into his later years. Both arguments could be had and go either way but at the end of the day I bet Calgary doesn't do the trade.

I don't think they do, either. I definitely think we would have to add more, if he were on the table at all. That said, I don't think you're finding anybody with that NYI pick in the late teens that you wouldn't find in any other draft, and you're getting extremely lucky if you get someone of Lindholm's caliber.

I wouldn't say that. The last few drafts have put out some real good players throughout the first round. Or at least projected really good players. Could that come to mind are Johnston #23, Caufield #15, Miller #22, Sandin #29, Lundkvist #28, Pelletier #26, Mercer #18, Schneider #19 I could go on but those are just off the top of my head, I don't want to start looking up to see who else lol.

Good players, yeah, but not Lindholm's caliber IMO smile

Severson is fine but he's gonna get an inflated contract id bet based on the market. Still let's hope.

Not yet, remember Lindholm was a bit more of a later bloomer as well. He didn't really take off until he got traded to Calgary in my opinion.

I hope we stay away from Severson. He will likely want max term with a high dollar figure between 6-7M and I don't think he's worth it.

Just find someone who won't torpedo Edvinsson on the 3rd pair is all I want. Clifton, Gudas, Holl, Shattenkirk i don't care as long as it's not Chairot.

Yeah I feel that, would be nice to have a more defensive minded guy playing beside him.
