Honestly would rather trade for or wait until Buffalo’s Devon Levi is a NCAA FA

There is an almost 0% chance Levi doesn't sign with the Sabres. You're probably thinking of Erik Portillo.

If we are to offer sheet someone, id prefer to go for Evan Bouchard. Pretty much same aav, but for 2 years and resign him long term (they might be able to figure something out for 1 year, but could be harder with 2 years). Minny might be in a tougher spot, but im not sure how Edmonton could make it works without trading a big piece or dumping Campbell. Also, I believe RD should be a priority right now.

(Maybe a trade could be better for both team in this case)

Levi would be a nice ufa addition, that is if he gets to ufa, 50/50 ig, habs dman Struble will prob be staying at Levi's, maybe Levi wants to be the goalie habs need, sabres already have upl as their number 1 for the future, or habs could pick up Hrabal or if some team picks him before grab Bjarnason.

Meh, Gustavsson is good, but their future has always been Walstedt, with the cap hits, Guerin likely wouldn't scoff at getting 2 picks.

Minnesota is also a strong defensive team, and Gustavsson is on his 3rd team, maybe he found his game and is finally living up to expectations, or he's a product of a system, if I was Hughes, I wouldn't risk it.

Korpisalo is available in FA this year and could likely be had for less.

Smart move for a team that will have several RFA's of their own over the next few years. Some teams and fanbases never learn.

Forgot about Wallstedt, but I personally wouldn't want to have a tandem of a 39 y/o and a 21 y/o. Too old and too young. Not to discredit Wallstedt, but in a league where a goalie usually breaks through at 23/24. However, one of Wallstedt's biggest skills is his mature playstyle, so if theres any goalie prospect that can come into the league early and not **** the bed, it's probably him.

I'd tend to agree that rushing him would be bad, but literally nothing stops Guerin from signing a stop-gap, Stolarz, Stalock or whatever plug.

Sucks to waste a season of two of Kaprizovs contract, but getting some extra 1st round picks could help them come out the other side better.

Depends on the direction of the team, and whether Guerin can survive the markets scrutiny.

Yeah. Those buyouts are gonna be absolutely BRUTAL for Minnesota next year.

Does not matter as CAP will increase to $92.5M or more in 2025. In Business there are NO friends. No one gives handouts. Newton`s Law; for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You must be willing to accept that to make moves like this

Bergevin was stubborn. Played hardball over what was likely a ~$500k difference on a bridge deal.
You don't let your RFA's get to the offer sheet stage if you aren't prepared to deal with it.

If you think Gorton doesn't play hardball with RFA's, you don't know him. They will do the same.

Hughes was an agent. Finding middle ground between the player and organization should be his strong suit.
It was a general statement however. Nobody should let their RFA's reach the offer sheet stage if they aren't prepared to deal with that possibility.

My point is Gordon is the decision maker, and he has a history of playing very hardball with RFA's. For a team with several of them coming up in the near future, is it really wise to offer sheet other teams who will retaliate? Gordon has never been willing to do that because he knows it will come back to bite them.
