2023-2024

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 14, 2023
Published: Mar. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I do think that the Devils will attempt to resign Tatar to a 2 year deal in the range of 3.5-4m per. If he ends up going elsewhere, this is how I would line up. I would give Holtz his shot in the top 6 with 2 elite playmakers; if he fails in that role, Palat can move up and you'll slot in a guy like Clarke on the 3rd line

We're stuffed with wingers but I think you have to take sharangovich if that's the ask. We'll make room for him.

Gudas yes, Haula and Graves whatever, Lemieux no. I'd rather bring back Tatar than Graves or Haula, Graves would only benefit us in the short term, and we can do a lot better than Lemieux there.

Wings pass not close, we have enough bottom 6 forwards and yegor is a healthy scratch a lot cause he doesn't bring much

Graves HAS to be back imo. Hopefully Luke Hughes comes in and plays like a top 4 dman right away, but there's a possibility he'll struggle out of the gate. Graves is a proven top 4 dman who we would have playing with either Bahl, Smith, Nemec, or an external option like Gudas on the 3rd pair. Haula is also a very versatile player who is a perfect 3C for our team. He's a good PKer and is great in the faceoff circle. We should be able to bring him back on a 2 year deal between 2-3m per which is well worth it. Lemieux is just a fill in on for the 4th line; I just want to bring in someone with physicality

He would be 7th in points per game on the Red Wings

He's the healthy scratch because the Devils are actually good

He's not awful but this isn't a trade I think the wings make. I don't think he's really worth a second but maybe a fourth. 27 points in 61 games this year doesn't make him worth that price. If the price was a fourth or less sure I would take a chance on him but not that price.

His role has really diminished in NJ this year compared to the last couple and mostly because other players have been better not that he's been bad. Maybe the price is a bit too much but I like the player and think he's worth taking a flyer on.

If Kings want an underachieving goalie they'll just call up Petersen

I don't disagree, a flyer of a mid to late round pick or random meh prospect not a decent pick.

Q: Would he keep that production on the team?
A: No. He'd just be fighting for a spot on the 3rd line (a line where we don't need players).

Disagree on Graves but we've had this conversation before. As for physicality in the bottom six, we should be set with Lazar, Bastian, and Foote.

Sharangovich would be in the top 6 instead of Suter

If he gets those top 6 minutes, he could produce at a similar pace as his first two years when he got top 6 playing time (50 point pace)

And is very solid defensively. He's on the top PK unit

But I guess he wouldn't do anything on the almighty Red Wings because you know everything

Do you realize that two of our (similar caliber) wingers are on IR?

I know what they need and what Yzerman has said, so this move isn't it, especially for this return
