Kings aren't interested in downgrading from Bjornfot to the two-year-older but less experienced Beaudin or from top-6 forward Arvidsson to bottom-6 forward Evans, and the future bottom-half second doesn't make up for that rather large gap.

Montreal does not need to trade Evans at all, one of the better defensive forwards in the league and quarterbacked the PK when it was top 5 in the league at the start of the year.

The trade is really bad when both fans base are declining real quick
Don’t understand people trading older guys on expiring deal on playoffs team to rebuilding team for picks/young players

Montreal has no use for Evans next year, he is a potential 3rd but mainly 4th liner

He is plenty useful, it is rare to have a player this good at defense. Especially at that cap hit, if you look at any great team, you could probably find a guy that might not put up numbers but they are great defensively because is a very useful niche to have in your back pocket.

Habs have tons of young star D. We don't need more D skill, the Habs need to trade Savard and Edmundson and even then, they would still have good young D.

Having a good defense doesn't mean having a good defensive forward isn't needed
