Asking for 12M in retention is a non-starter. Obviously.

At the cap and you have eleven forwards. Rough.

Columbus has no need or room for Foegele, but i’d do that deal for Kulak.

Sigh… The cap is expected to go up, and the retention is spread over a number of years.

Could be any team - Foegele is unaffordable at his current rate, at least in this model. I like the player and think that some team would be willing to part with a late round pick for Foegele without the Oilers having to retain salary.

Cap or not. It’s hard to convince an owner that you’re wasting 12m of their money.

Regardless of that, nobody is going to retain for 8 years on a contract unless they’re planning on being bad for a while, or it’s the only way to move a guy that is a detriment.

You're not going to convince any GM to retain for that many years.
