Detroit naturally accepts, Though i don't see Yzerman paying Cat 9M per either.

He’s a home town guy. Yzerman can sign him to longer deal at a better AAV.

If he's willing to take a home town discount in the $8M to $8.5M range. Yzerman would probably do it in a heartbeat.

He doesn’t fit in Ott. We can use the $9 cap hit more efficiently for higher priority needs.

Huh? He's fit there quite well from my POV. I think you are underrating the effect of not having Norris the entire season. Pinto is a decent young player but he's not a legitimate top 6 center like Norris and Stutzle are

He hasn’t been very good. 4 goals at 5 on 5.
Agreed, Norris will be a big upgrade. But if Cat decides to do 1year QO and then walks, I’d rather get something for him now and 9M handcuffs this roster next year. Plus I don’t think he wants to sign longterm in Ottawa.

first of all he has 9 goals at 5v5 and 25 points. Where did you get 4 goals from?

I mean if you can sign him long term to 9M you do that in a heartbeat and worry about the other stuff later. Him wanting out is just pure speculation on your part

NHL GMs have to decide what DeBrincat's cap value is in his new contract. His next contract should not be based on what Ottawa paid for in acquiring him.
I don't know why the Wings do that trade.....they can sign an UFA for the same value, without giving up anything.
Sens and DeBrincat might find themselves in situation it's just QO this summer. DeBrincat hopes for a bigger contract as a UFA, Sens gets DeBrincat for one more year, or maybe even trade him at TDL.

Correct. 9 goals 5/5. He still hasn’t been very good.

Yes it is speculation, but this whole ACGM forum is based on speculation. Thanks for pointing that out.

Because Detroit gets him now and a chance to sign him to a multi year deal without other UFA teams bidding on him.
Sens don’t want his 9M cap hit next year. It leaves no room to address more important needs.

Yeah. Fabbri's too injury proned, and I think Zadina could break out a bit, he's not that good. Maybe if the pick was changed to a first.

PD has pretty weak leverage. I don’t expect much more than this in return.

not even remotely close for OTT to send a 40 goal winger in his prime to a Divisional rival, a bust a 3rd liner a 2nd would not get Cat.

I don’t expect the Sens to get anything close to what they traded for him. The secondary part of this is to open up some cap space.

I would rather do something like Larsson/Borgen + Gourde/Bjorkstrand than this.

This deal could be good or bad for both sides. Fabbri is not a 3rd liner, he is middle 6 or even top 9 depending on how a coach deploys him; he can fit with virtually anyone, which is actually a valuable quality. Zadina is one I have finally lost faith he will succeed in Detroit; he has all the tools, definitely belongs in the NHL, but he just can't get it going on the scoresheet.

Debrincat is a good offensive player, but his game is one dimensional. He happens to have the one dimension Detroit lacks in a pure goal scorer. Who does Detroit have that can maximize the offense? Larkin would be ideal, but that means Debrincat hasto go up against better competition, so he might not get 40 goals.

Interesting trade for sure

But that isn't why the Sens acquired DeBrincat from Chicago......for a a chance to sign him to a militia year withouit other UFA bidding on him? Yep we have seen how well that has worked for the Sens so far. No reason for the Wings to fall into the same trap.

I would trade that for one year of Debrincat not even worrying about the extension.

Sens tried him out. Didn’t work here. Time to move on. Doesn’t mean he won’t fit in on another team… like Detroit.
