Trades
1.
EDM
Similar to the Vrana trade (but the other way around):
Det get a pending UFA with experience who can help their young core of forwards. They can also flip him at the deadline.
EDM pay a good price to get rid of Foegle's cap hit and can retool their 3rd line
    DET
    1. Foegele, Warren
    2. 2024 5th round pick (EDM)
    3. 2025 3rd round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
The 3rd can become a 2024 2nd if the oilers make the cup finals in 2023
    2.
    EDM
    1. 2024 5th round pick (OTT)
    Additional Details:
OTT acquire a great third (maybe second) pairing guy as Hamonic and Holden departure. They pay very cheap for Kulak. EDM will not ask for much as they want to free up cap space

Depends on what Detroit envisions for the forward group. It's already too many bodies but I'd rather take foegele and a couple picks than bring back guys we are playing on the 4th line now who are similar players.

I agree. Take him and the picks. Leave Soderblom in Grand Rapids. Could be a possible trade piece at the deadline.

I don't think Ottawa is a good team for Kulak. Columbus could possibly use a player like him.

Ottawa doesn't need another LD. Chabot-Sanderson-Brannstrom is rock solid on the left side, and they'll be playing Chychrun on the right.

Pretty good! Domi is tricky as it'll be interesting to see how he does in Dallas where his stats won't be inflated but if he keeps his pace up then I like that deal for him. Also bettman has mentioned that the salary cap will probably go up more than the 1 mil proposed so u can use 84-85 mil in ur future ACGMs.

Meh, I'd much rather let the kids play and/or add valuable pieces. We can't stay in perpetual rebuild forever, next season HAS to be a step forward

Why is Foegle so unwanted in Edmonton?

I think yzerman cleans house a bit and guys like Suter and Chaisson and Erne even Zadina will be gone. It's just when you say kids it's only probably Soderblom that's not here already you need to make space for. I'd be surprised if we see anyone else besides maybe Kasper make a leap.

Even with those guys cleared out, if Soderblom and Kasper alone are here, that's still:
    Ras-Larks-Razor
    Fabbri-Copp-Perron
    Bergy-Kasper-Kuby
    Soderblom-Veleno-?

I'd much rather they add a guy like Hathaway for the 4th, or go after more of a proven goal scorer in a trade to fill it out. Either way, we don't need more plugs. Czarnik has done just fine in a 4A role and I think he'd be perfect to be held as a healthy scratch most nights as well. I just don't see the point in adding an expensive cap dump that doesn't help.

I want Accari for that last rw spot, get a right handed center that can take draws and kill penalties. It's something we don't have.

Foegele isn't bad though. That's the thing, he's a decent bottom six forward who just hasn't put up the points in comparison to what was expected and his contract.
Also trading Hronek kind of makes it seem like we aren't close to being competitive otherwise why trade him for picks? Why trade him at all? I think Yzerman still wants to build through the draft and this last offseason was just getting pieces so that we went consistently get rolled and help build a winning culture. His message after the deadline stating that they were never buyers this season kind of helps clarify that.

Trading Hronek makes all the sense in the world if Yzerman views the previous 2 seasons as the norm
and this season as the outlier - Sell high. Also, if he wasn't confident Detroit could extend him at a reasonable rate, it's better to move him now when the return is high.

I'd rather Detroit re-sign Suter, than add someone like Foegle, just to add low probability picks to a glut of picks we already have.

I totally think that's why Hronek got traded actually, but still says something about his thought of the team when he's selling what looked like a core piece.

If Yzerman thought this season was an outlier for Hronek, it's unlikely he thought he was a core piece. I'm very interested to see what's done in the off-season. If we strike out in FA and trades, then the logical move is extend the rebuild and be patient, but if we can strike and land some key pieces, next year should be, and is VERY realistic to be, a playoff year.
