Aho's seen round 3 in the playoffs and is a PPG player in the postseason... what can you say about Matthews?

That's true, but you're a lot more likely to sign the dude whose childhood friend was just acquired at the deadline than a guy that still has a fondness for the NHL's version of the Virgin Islands.

If Aho was on the Leafs and Matthews was on he Canes the Canes probably have a cup and the Leafs probably miss the playoffs 3/6 years.

I think you're massively overrating Aho. Most Canes fans seems to overrate their players and prospects.

Matthews would be a significant improvement over Aho.

Yeah, thats what the first rounder and Pesce are for. Canes never do it either tho without a certainty of resigning, bc thats just how they do business.

pass. just wait for Matthews to become a UFA. We dont need to go into a similar contract situation with Matthews as we do with Aho while give up prime assets to do so.

matthews would be awesome dont get me wrong but we value depth around the star players. Paying Matthews near league max wont allow that.
