I would be very very very surprised in bertuzzi signed that deal.

Isles don’t have room for another winger. They have to clear room to keep the guys they have.

I think they would gladly make room for a 50% retained Mantha for free.

Not sure why the OP is giving a 50% retained Mantha away for nothing.

Yeah that’s a big part of it as well. I don’t view it as realistic.

I think it’s a long shot too but I can see a world where he looks for the right opportunity on a one year deal to bet on himself and sign a big ticket after. I think it’s likely though that he’ll have better suitors than the caps but it’s in the realm of possibility. That looks like a good fit for him on that second line and if he got PP time I think he’s produce on this hypothetical team.

Maybe you’d be able to get a 5th back? I just think they need to move on from Mantha. He hasn’t been a great fit and he’s making far too much at 5.7 for what he’s been able to accomplish in his time in Washington. Ps. Im not a caps fan.

bertuzzi isn't taking that deal and if you have to retain half on mantha with only getting FC back in return they're better off buying him out

Would you rather one year of 2.85 dead cap or 1.35M year 1 2.15M year 2 on a buyout?

1.35 + 2.15, they need to go year by year and cap is most likely going to jump a lot the year after.
