Why would Arizona make this trade? Lots of potential UFA goalies next year that can be had for cheaper and probably better, Like the potential of Nathan MacKinnon but is he or will he be worth anywhere close to 6.5 m in the next few years? Admittedly I rarely see Erik Johnson, but is he a top tier Dman? If he isn't, I think his salary is too high, (although someone might pay him that)
Avs might be better to spend money wisely elsewhere. The cap may go up about 75m? next year, but a lot of money has been spent for a team that likely misses the playoffs.
