Description

TOP PROSPECTS
Snuggerud - returns to Minnesota for another year
Bolduc - starts in the AHL, could get a few games in
Dean - starts in the AHL, could get a game or 2 in
Loof - AHL
Robertsson - SHL
all drafted players in 2023 start in their respected junior leagues

OFFENSE
Team is looking for another top 6 player, I see them looking at wing and playing Buch at center all next year. Look for a reclamation project. Mantha and/or Zadina both fit the mold and would be cheap enough to look at imo

DEFENSE
ideally you move Krug, but he will be the hardest guy to move. One of the bigger contracts needs to go. If it is Parayko, they need a good young RHD coming back

GOALIE
Binner and Hofer will be the tandem, this is the easiest prediction

DRAFT DAY
at this point I would use the picks for prospects (unless someone intriguing surfaces)

Krug isn't returning a quality prospect like Bjornfot without significant retention, assuming LA were even interested in him. They're likely targeting someone with size.

Krug has already stated numerous times that both he and his wife, need to be close to their parents in Michigan. That's why he chose St Louis 700 miles from Detroit. LA is 2,400 miles from Detroit and no way in hell he waives to go there.

I agree, I made that trade for the meme and I see it as a possible option to free cap for Washington

A pick does nothing to address the two issues @tkecanuck said were the problems.

1) 6mil+ going to LA doesn't work with their cap, and
2) Krug's not the type of defenseman they are looking for.

we need a guy who can play 3C in case Buch goes back to the wing or there is an injury. Not Mantha. Im thinking F.Gaudreau, Haula or Bjugstad

Dean or Bolduc can come up for an emergency 3C, Or Walker can play 4C and Alexandrov move up. There's not many UFA centers that fit the team, maybe Pius Suter if he doesn't re-sign in DET. The 3 you listed don't interest me at all
