Krebs going home

Created by: Czu8iks
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 23, 2023
Published: Mar. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I am thinking out loud that Sabres should move Krebs and get proven vet to center 3rd line.
Krebs being from Alberta and Flames risking losing Lindholm at the end of 23/24 season to UFA, this seems like good deal.
Should Sabres add some picks or is that enough ?

Savoie/Rosen/Rousek can beat Mittelstad for roster spot.

3 centers making 7 million?

Don't think that's enough

Cirelli, Pageau, Eriksson Ek, not sure who else. Likely none available though. Those are the types of players Buffalo should target. Lindholm is very very good and is likely a top line centre although as he gets older he might be better suited for second line duties.

They should draft Yager or Danielson or a similar centre.

Maybe Ross Colton.... Just throwing stuff out there

Better than 2 making 21. You can always move Cozens to LW, Lindholm to 2C and 3C being Savoie/Kulich

Doesn't have to be Blues. Could go for 3rd without retention. He is 30 goal scorer in the right environment. Sabres have no space for him on 3rd line.

Eriksson Ek or Cirrelli would do it, but I doubt they are available, both being recently extended.

I am looking for upgrade over Krebs, with expectation for Krebs being better next season than this, so guy like Pageau and Colton don't fit.

Lindholm should get a better return than what Horvat got. This isn’t close to that

Pageau is kind of what this team could use. Great at faceoffs and defensively. At least that type of player. Like I said night be better off drafting one as most teams don't want to move them when they have them.

They probably get a similar return ngl. Horvat hasn’t done much in terms of goal scoring as of late, but that’s cause he’s eating minutes and has no help without Barzal. They would’ve lost every game remaining without him.

I know you mean anywhere, but yeah it won;t be the Blues. Don't need wingers, don't have cap and he's not their type of player anyway.

Krebs is worth 1st, Sabres 2nd is around value of Raty and there is no cap dump included.

He doesn't fit the age. 32 next season with 2 more year after that at 5 mil aav

Yeah I get that, more saying his type of player. He's probably not available anyways. Yager or Danielson at the draft.

Lol. Raty was a top ~50 prospect at tye time of the trade. I wpuld argue he was worth more than Krebs.

Im not sure whats worse between the trade or thinking Lindholm signs for less than 8x8

Please explain to me why/how you believe Krebs is still worth a 1st Round Pick?

Lindholm isn't available first of all and you certainly won't get him for that little of an offer and he's going to re-sign for between $7-$8mil x 7-8 years in Calgary

I assumed Flames won't be able to resign him with their cap situation.
Krebs is NHLer, showing flashes, developing 2-way game at age 22.
And he is from Alberta.

So Raty is suppose to be this amazing prospect, but he barely sniff NHL ice, having 15 NHL games, while Krebs being year older already has 123 games.

I really doubt Lindholm signs 8yrs deal at 8 avv at age 29. If that's the price, good riddance.

7M a piece for the 1c, 2c, and 3c is not ideal. If I was you, I would rather wait for Savoie to come and be a center man on the team.

Bad Assumption. Re-Signing Lindholm will be a priority

Don’t see how being from Alberta increases Krebs value, but I imagine his value has slipped a bit. He might be worth a very late 1st, but I doubt it. He hasn’t done enough to have held that value imo

Again, he’s not available, but he was, it’d have to be a 1st + Krebs + another Very Good Prospect + a Decent Replacement Player

Krebs is in his D+4 year, Raty is only in his D+2 year. After Krebs D+2 year he only had 4 NHL games played, so Raty already has almost 4x that amount at the same point in their development

Games played =/= better prospect. Also Krebs is 22 months older than Raty. Saying they are 1 year apart is laughable, not to mention they were drafted 2 years apart too. Krebs is currently in his D+4 year, Raty his D+2.

Why would Lindholm take anything less? He's a top 15 center in the league and would absolutely be looking for a long term deal to bring him to retirement. He deserves the Zibanejad contract if were being realistic, 8x8 is a discount
