Bear's qualifying offer is 2.65 so he isn't signing for anything less then that even on a one year deal.

Love the OEL buyout. I don't see much point in the Mayfield or Reilly additions. Canucks have basically resigned guys like Brisebois and Wolanin and still have Rathbone in the AHL. A couple of those guys will be in the NHL next year.

We need depth though imo Wolanin should be setup to be 7th D not a Reilly fan would rather try for a guy with more potential then him especially for 3m.

Let's see first as well if the Canucks can get a Livingstone or Hirose.

I'm hoping so I think might be best for them to start on the farm and be the call up for short term injuries if they are doing good. For Long term injuries probably better to call up Brisebois

Agree with you on wolanin. I think the Canucks have a ton of depth in replacement level defenseman now. I thought Reilly is more proven then what they have now, but if he doesn't work out, it's only a one year commitment. He's just a place holder until Rathbone, Pettersson 2, or Jurmo are ready for the show

Even with this team setup, I have a hard time seeing them making the playoffs next season, especially with that D core.

Ya I would. 4.8 million according to my math is still less then 7.2 million dollars. You can replace OEL as we've seen with an AHL level dman. If the wild can be running roughshot over the NHL with over 12+ million in buyout money to Parise and Suter surely the Canucks can work around 4.8 million for two years. After that the cap hit is 2.1 for 4 years which sucks but the cap should be over 90 million by then and again you can build a cup contender roster around a 3% dead cap hit. If you can't as a GM you should be fired.
