Description
Just looking at Tankathon and saw that by points % Tampa bays draft picks sit at 21 overall in each round. Considering we have their first two picks this year I’m hoping that it stays around that level. Obviously lots could change with the remaining games but the lightning do have a high SOS according to that section on the website. Assuming it stays at 21, the hawks could absolutely move up!

Don't take this the wrong way but you are targeting the wrong pick. Montreal is rebuilding and won't be trading back, if they move the pick it will be for a young NHL player or to move up in the draft.

I could see trading back IF we we also got something to fill a void on the roster that's worth the drop. I agree it's highly unlikely but isn't implausible imo.

The thing is though no one (in this case Chicago) is giving up that piece to move up just 6 spots. For instance Montreal would want a top 4 RHD, top 6 forward or potential starting goalie, I don't see where it makes sense for Chicago to give up those pieces for 6 spots.

I didn't say it would make sense, nor is it likely. But I wouldn't count out the option that a GM thinks it's worth it in a moment of weakness.

Connor Murphy is a piece that we would move, obviously he would be worth more than the value of the draft pick swap but maybe if MTL added a draft pick in 24/25?

That's not the type of thing Montreal would be looking for, think Dach trade, we want to get players in the 20-25 year old range and are either struggling in their current role or are available because of cap constraints, not a 30 year old 3rd pairing guy.

That would need to be a 3-team trade, both MTL and CHI are rebuilding so we're both after young players & picks/prospects. Maybe with a team like EDM?

MTL drops back and adds a young quality piece or additional pick (from EDM), CHI moves up, EDM gets Murphy (and whatever needed to balance with MTL)?
