That would be some pretty awful picks

The Blues aren't making that trade. #17-#9 probably cost more than a second let alone getting a 4th back

I can see St. Louis trading one of their later firsts for the #37 pick plus additional benefit(s), but not trading out of #9 and giving up a chance to get a high-quality prospect like a top-10 selection. I think that's just unrealistic.

Picking Reinbacher at #5 when you could select Zach Benson (appears to be Habs fans' preference) or Will Smith (my preference there) is a reach, and Honzek before #20 is a LONG reach, as @Caufield suggests.

Not all Habs fans lol, I don't know why this guy has such a hard on for Honzek but he keeps trying to trade up then selecting him! Like just forget about Honzek already there are 13 better center's in this draft, Select Smith then the BPA with the 17th pick (if its ASP, Reinbacher or Dragicevic great if not oh well)

TBF EvolvingHockey ranks the 9th pick at 372.16, pick 17 at 260.15 and pick 35 at 116.07, since 260.15+116.07 = 376.22 which is > 372.126. So basically the only reason for them not to make the trade is the 4th round pick going back (strictly on a pick value basis)

I mean I guess, but I think the blues would really want a high end guy in the pipeline instead

Also I really wanted to use those 2 insults

That's fair and I get wanting more especially given the depth of this draft class, like I said I was just commenting on pick value alone.

love the effort ... but no .. Habs needs are not Rd but rather top line forwards ... the defense is fine right now with the prospects we have.... I really like our def..... so i see the habs taking two fd in the first round at 5 and 15... There is c\a chance that the russian might be there at five and i cvould take him... if you think ana might take him trade up one pick and give up a third and them pick him.... anahiem will want someone who can help sooner so i think they would be open to this.. Then at 15 you take another forward with high end potential... If they are none you can take a RD or a goalie..

Also next year is the year of the rookie forward on the habs and you have to make space so hoffman is gone with retained salary for whatever and armia is sent to the minors.. And you try Ylonen, Harvey, Roy and farrell or kidney at out forward,,,, maybe even Beck or Mesar.. Whoever doesn't make it goes to laval.....so probably 3 in montreal and 3 in laval... but you need slots to play them... not even sure you want to block these guys with Gurionov.... He is inconsistent and needs an armia like contract.... I dont think he is better than Roy or Fareell and Pitlick and Pezzetta are much cheaper options for the fourth line

For the 74th time, THE BLUES ARE NOT DOING THAT.

I tried caps, because maybe that's the only thing he understands.

That is not how it works in reality. Setting aside that these analytic values are not gospel and that all team needs are different, one can't simply pile nickels and dimes to the moon and go, "Well, here's your payment for the top overall pick!"

Besides, that whole value comp thing is for a typical draft year, not for this draft. The reason the Blues are not doing this is they have not had a lottery pick in 15 years, and if there's ever a year to suck and get one, it's this year.

Please read and understand my comment, I literally said "strictly based on pick value", I never said the blues should/would do it. I even made a comment further down regarding the draft class being much stronger as seen below.
