Matt Murray refused to waive his NTC for Buffalo at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. I doubt they would want a guy who has previously stated he doesn’t want to be there.

I strongly think Murray stays a Leaf next year.

The Leafs can find a LTIR place for him.

Yes before the Leafs traded for him, Ottawa and Buffalo had a deal in place but Murray declined to waive.

I think it was something like:

Murray (25% retention)
7th overall pick (which then ended up being used for Debrincat)

for

16th overall pick

Someone would need to confirm but I think that was it.

I also don't see Arizona as the best fit either because Murray is owed 8m in real dollars (2 million from Ottawa and 6 million from whoever has him at the time). So I don't think the fit is there.

Even if Murray proves himself in the playoffs, he has already proven that he can't be relied on during the regular season. He's been out twice already for significant periods of time with his hip this year.

Pair this with the 20 odd current NHL guys who will be free agents this year, and a few more goalies who are likely on the move (Vegas and Boston probably look to unload Lehner and Ullmark to save cap space), and his contract situation mean you'll have a hell of a time finding a buyer for Murray.

Those could be, or Chicago, or a few others might be willing to take him, I don't think he is immoveable, but I don't think any team is going to come calling about him offering anything other than FCs at best, or asking for a minor payment to ride out his contract.
