Oh hi!

Trades 2 and 3 are fine...I can't see Markstrom waiving for Buffalo, but if he did this wouldn't be the *worst*...I'd just assume that moving Markstrom would be to make room for Wolf...UPL is probably waivers-eligible next year, no? Maybe Comrie+2nd+a UPL equivalent skater instead? Upside but hasn't hit?

As mentioned Markstrom probably wouldn't wave but I think most of the fan base would be fine with him leaving after this season.

Want Mangiapane too? That's an opinion that often gets me dragged by the fan base but with Ruzicka, Pelletier and Zary in the hopper we don't need a 6 million dollar, middle 6 guy, who only excels in contract years.

Markstrom won't waive and they are very likely going to bet on him bouncing back. The guy is 1 year removed from the Vezina runner-up and was 4th in Vezina voting just 2 years before that. Not to mention he will be a fantastic mentor for Wolf.

Why he wouldn't waive ? For Swede it shouldn't matter where he plays in NA and Buffalo is good destination for players, especially vet goalie.

Because a huge part of the reason he signed in Calgary was to play with his best friend. He just had his first child too. Why on earth would anyone want to uproot their Family right after child birth

Also no personal shade on Buffalo but it has definitely not been viewed as a "good destination for players" in a very long time

Edmonton declines. They certainly don't have the cap space, but Olofsson is a downgrade too. He and Foegele score at about the same rate but Foegele is better at every other facet of the game.

O'Reilly, Berglund, Eichel, Lehner, Ristolainen, Reinhart... It's a good destination if you wanna lose your passion for the game.

Funny UPL has a better High Danger Save % than Markstrom this year. Like people keep talking down on Buffalo. Give Buffalo another Top 4D and a Goalie and there gonna be a force in the league as soon as next year. In 2yrs a lot of crow gonna be eaten. Gonna be fun to watch.

Most people are smart enough to keep their mouths shut until there is crow to be eaten

That's fine, but Calgary fans shouldn't be saying **** about Buffalo, cause they aren't much better at this point

Puts the Flames in a spot of running Vladar and Wolf, Vladar has been as bad as of late as Markstrom for a lot of the season, if I have to choose who mentors the Flames first blue chip goalie prospect since Mike Vernon it would be the guy who has been top 5 in Veizna voting multiple times. There are a few Vladar strokers on this website but looking at the numbers and when he starts to get a heavier workload he has been a great backup with very little upside beyond that.

While Buffalo has been a place where a lot of player would not waive to before, I think it's good place to be now. Good players, lots of cap and in the Eastern Conference. The Flames, are even less attractive next season. Looks to be a out of playoff team, and with raises big raises going to Huberdeau and Weager, no real cap availability to add.
Sabres would be better to add a UFA goalie or even offer sheet Swayman.

I did not about child and friend part. I just assume, him as Swede, he is not settled in Calgary/Canada, he is there for part of the year.
This is different environment now in Buffalo, this is upcoming team, and if you want to change scenery, Buffalo should be considered.

I would be very shocked if he is looking for a change of scenery

Doubt Seattle would have interest in trading Borgen for Jokiharju 1-for-1, let alone add a draft pick, ESPECIALLY a 2nd rounder.

Maybe. Just maybe. Still, I believe the Kraken are pretty happy with the player, his current role, execution, and development. Not bad returns on a player they received for free. Also, Francis has yet to trade anything higher than a 4th Rounder to improve the team to this point, and the results are looking good so far. Doubt he bucks that trend with a 2nd paired with Borgen just to bring in Jokiharju.
