5 firsts is a bit much. I wouldn't give up that much for Bedard.

Well youre getting 3 elite players instead of one projected franchise, thats pretty irrelevant, hard to say 2 elite forwards and a Vezina winning goalie arent worth 5 firsts.

Garland and 3rd for Poink is about right value wise, no real interest in paying a 1st for Appelton and Niederreiter

and Dilllon with 4 mill total retained, was gonna put top 10 protected on the 1st put didnt think it was neccesary i think its fair value

You don't think Connor is worth 2, Helle 2, and Scheif retained 1?

I would not pay two firsts for hells that’s for sure. Way too much risk there.

Connor is probably worth 2 firsts and a retained scheifele can probably get a 1st as well.

The problem here is asking for all of those assets from 1 team. Teams are more likely to spend 1sts if they still are maintaining decent draft/prospect capital after the trade. Emptying the pipeline for 2 rentals and Connor, even if they are all very good players, would be terrible pipeline management and add significant risk with the upside being, maybe playoffs? Not worth it for Detroit

Detroit has drafted incredibly well, i see them as having most of the pieces they need already and with these three that speeds up the competitive window immediately. They still have tons of prospects in the system plus a mid round 1st in 2023 and a 1st in 2024

And Scheif is easily worth more than a 1st with 50% retained look at the Jeannot trade lool

Why do you see 2 firsts for Helle as a risk? I think Detroit is his ultimate destination if youre worried about free agency?

But agreed one team spending all those assets in one trade is pretty much 0 chance i know that but dont think the value is that far off

Scheifele and jeanot not comparable. Jeanot is an RFA and Tampa bay is in win now mode. Also, pretty much universally agreed upon overpay by Tampa.

Scheifele is a 30 yr old pending UFA. Worth one 1st imo. His next contract will be killer.

Helle is a top 3 goalie BUT goalie is the most unpredictable position. Detroit is buying ONE year of helle for 2 firsts, and if they get 2022-2023 helle that’s great, but what if they get 2021-2022 helle isntead? Not worth the risk for 2 firsts. Just wait a year and Chad him in FA instead.

I don't see Yzerman having any interest in Scheifele. There are rumors of him being a cancer and there are plenty of people saying they aren't true but the way Yzerman deals with situations like this is to steer clear or if the player is on his team he trades him away. Look at Vrana I do think part of the reason he was traded was to give him a fresh start which I think he needed but with that return you have to think Yzerman just wanted to put the whole thing behind him and move on. Plus Scheifele is a UFA at the end of next season.

Without Scheifele it’s still tempting offer but Kasper is a top 10 pick and Detroit's best center prospect. Detroit has Larkin as their #1C but I’m still not convinced they have a true #2C. Currently Copp is our #2C but like the rest of the players Detroit has played in that slot this season no one has been that impressive. When you look at Detroit’s defense they have at least couple of seasons before they are good enough to compete. Now Connor is an amazing player but you also have to consider Detroit has lost 2 wingers out of their top 6 and now it looks like Fabbri might be done as well. The point I’m trying to make is Connor and Hellebuyck do make Detroit a playoff team but they aren’t a contender and trading away their next 3 1st rd picks puts contending even further out of reach. If you were to put Connor and Hellebuyck on Detroit they still wouldn’t be as good as Winnipeg is now with Connor and Hellebuyck.
