Description
Simmed the draft lottery on Tankathon and it had Vancouver picking 1st and Detroit moving up to 2nd. Both teams are happy as Vancouver gets to bring Bedard home and Detroit gets to keep Fantilli in the state of Michigan. Drafting Fantilli allows Detroit to focus on adding some scoring in the top 6 and shore up the RD position this offseason. I have added a few other moves I would like to see happen.

That was purely a suggestion, I was just thinking a 2nd and Zadina was too much so maybe add a lower level prospect instead of Zadina.

Zadina's stock has fallen and Pionk is still a serviceable RHD in a league that's bereft of them, this is fair as is imo, McIsaac has like zero value and especially to the Jets since he's yet another LHD.

Fair enough! Maybe I was giving Zadina too much stock.

Or, personally, I think we could knock two birds out with one stone on Detroit's side. Upgrade the pick and upgrade the prospect, add Pionk and a higher end Winnipeg prospect such as McGroarty (bring him home to Detroit).

I doubt any of the Jets recent 1st round picks would be available but you could probably bring Helle home to Michigan.

Not at a reasonable price point. Plus, we're like 2 more seasons from actually competing (probably 1 more season from playoffs). Cossa matches the timeline perfectly.

Thoughts on making it a bigger deal with the Jets?

Scheifele and Pionk? I had only really pegged Detroit as a potential landing spot for 55 because the wings are his childhood favourite team, Stevie Y his favourite player and Copp was his roommate here on Winnipeg so he’d have a good friend on the team as well. Larkin Scheif 1-2 punch is strong as the team is ready to compete.

Cost for 55 would include the Islanders pick + 2nd rounder + sort of thing. Hadn’t contemplated a bigger deal, just wondering if there would be interest. Another likely destination for 55 could be Boston but Detroit is probably where he would prefer to sign an extension.
