After the game where Spezza and pionk went at it scheifele said that after the win and caused leafs fans to hate him and the jets so literally go back on Instagram on the jets feed to a post game post and look in the comments definitely hit a nerve with many.

Getting Dach for PLD is a bit of a stretch, although I'd personally say yes to that deal.

I'm all for using the Trouba trade as a framework. But since it was 20th OA and Pionk (who was an undrafted 24 year old and the D the Rangers were most willing to move in a trade with Skjei, DeAngelo, Fox, Miller, etc. on the team/in the system) for a 50 point D-man, I'm not sure Jets fans would want to use it as one. A comparable wouldn't be the Florida 1st and Dach, it would be the Florida 1st and guy like Gurianov.

I'd do that for Ehlers for sure, but I think you can get more from him than a second and a good winger prospect. Also not sure that Columbus would be strongly interested in Ehlers anyway; centers are the desperate need here and none of yours are intriguing to us for obvious reasons.

Pionk was undrafted, but he was also coming off a season where he averaged 22 minutes a night for New York and I think that isn't meaningless. Besides, MTL will likely want to move $$$ out back to WPG in the trade, considering Dubois is going to want like $9M a season. Unfortunately, Montreal's trade chips are all either young rookie contracts or are overpaid veterans with negative trade value (i.e. Josh Anderson). Dach is the only guy that fits the bill as a) not a top prospect b) a roster player and c) years of term at a $3M+ salary.

Though, the Jets are in a different position now than they were in 2019, so maybe the Jets just eat a Dvorak/Anderson contract in order to get another pick or a better prospect in the package.

Anderson's contract isn't viewed as a negative. And if Dubois wants 9 mil, then not only would he be more overpaid than Anderson, he's going to 100% go to free agency and the Jets better hope he has a good 2023-2024 season so that he has value as a rental next deadline.
