Can never seperate Doughty and Anderson, both are at their best when paired together.

I'd rather have Roy over Matheson who has been perfect paired with Gavrikov.

Eventually, when Clarke and/or Spence and/or Durzi are ready for top-4 minutes, you can pair them with Gavrikov and Roy and Durzi have already played well together.

The Hart package is too much, the Kings will just take their chances with either trying to get Korpi or give Petersen another shot. Petersen's buyout next year won't be too bad, and buried he's really not worth losing 1st, 2nd, and Kupari

Hard no from the Habs. Matheson is:
A) Our best defenceman (on pace for 60 points if he'd not been hurt)
B) A recent acquisition
C) On an excellent deal

If we absolutely had to move him we'd not be looking to take a defenceman back as we already have too many

you have a lot of left handed D (Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Matheson, Edmunson). Habs RHD consists of Savard, Barron, Kovacevic, maybe Mailloux in future. Moving Matheson for Roy would be good. Moving Matheson for Durzi would be even better cause he's younger. Montreals still years away from competing if Matheson is still there when competing id be surprised. Guhle Durzi pairing would be sick.

Maybe, but why would the Habs trade Matheson for that return when he could probably fetch a tone next deadline at this rate

That's a hard pass from the Flyers. Trading a 24 year old franchise goalie would not be in their best interest.

Only way Matheson is moved for another d man from the kings is a deal for Clarke. Habs dont need dmen that badly unless they are major improvements on who we already have. Roy is 28. Only a year younger than Matheson

I doubt Montreal would even move Matheson for Roy, he's local, locked up longer term on a good contract, and is their only D that has effective in tough minutes who isn't a rookie. But at least Roy makes sense as a he's a really good RD. There's almost zero chance Montreal would move Matheson for Durzi, they'd be better off just keeping Barron in the NHL.

Ya those are certainly factors but by the time Matheson's deal is ending is more likely when Montreal is turning the corner. Durzi's age would and rfa control would be a big plus.

Montreal wants Matheson now to help bring along Montreal's young D. When Montreal's turning the corner, they want to be building around some of Hutson, Guhle, Harris/Xhekaj, Barron, Mailloux and whoever else they have drafted or will draft. Having a guy like Matheson now who can play tough minutes now and help prospects deal with the full range of pressures (Matheson was a hyped prospect who showed flashes, struggled with pressure for years before putting it all together a couple of seasons ago) is more valuable than what Durzi would bring them. Roy at least makes sense in that he can play a tougher role, plays the right side and has strong on-ice impacts.
