If Canucks have the cap space, I think they accept. I've wanted a guy like Zadorov on the team for a long time

I would rather keep Zadorov than Stecher personally
Duehr won't get more than his QO
Also very underwhelming return for Vladar since Weissbach needs to play 80 NHL games by the end of next season to not become a group 6 UFA

if they trade assets for a goalie its gunna be a big swing, not vladar. Probably just sign a ufa

I think expectations for a Vladar return should be tempered, not a lot of teams looking for a backup with 1B upside this offseason, UFA market will consist of 14 goalies with a better save percentage that have played at least 15 games this year, that doesn't include teams that have a guy in the pipeline that could fill a role. A 3rd at this point from a team with a 50/50 shot of making the playoffs and depth for the Wranglers feels like it could be a fit unfortunately.
Regarding Stetcher, I went with the right shot D man over the left due to Tanev's injury history, given, Zadorov and Weegar can both slide back to the right side, I'd be find if Zadorov stayed and Stetcher walked, just a window into my thinking on that.

Fair, who would you see as big swing options in the offseason? That will be a fun storyline to follow if that's the route they go.

I have absolutely no idea haha. Its possible that goalie doesnt become available this off season. Thats why Im 95% sure theyll sign someone like Talbot. But I bet if Trotz made Saros available theyd give NSH whatever they want.

Ok sure but you also have to account for the cap hit and term + age. Vladar has a 0.896 SV% on the season but he also the 15th best 5v5 HDSV% in the league (ahead of names like Saros, Husso, Oettinger, Skinner, Hart, Hellebuyck, and many more). His problem this year has been a brutal medium danger SV% which is like 2nd last in the league

For sure, do you think that teams have sorted his scouting report a little more? Crazy that he is last in the league in average goal distance, I never looked at those numbers really but they are interesting. One thing to keep in mind when comparing with the goalies above him in HDSV% is that of just the ones you listed they all face on average at least 1 more high danger chance per game, Hart and Saros being the highest at 6.8 per game as opposed to Vladar at 4.9 per game.

There was a piece that Mike McKenna dropped with Daily Faceoff when Markstrom was really struggling that was showing how often teams have been beating Vladar high. I think at this point the Flames get back what they initially gave up for Vladar but not much more if any.

I mean I would rather take on a rec project than a guy who's guaranteed to be UFA in a year. Ottawa fans seemed to like the idea of Vladar for one of JBD/Thomson + Gauthier. At least with that we are adding a needed RHD prospect that's close to NHL ready (the caveat being neither are waiver exempt but with Tanev injuries being more common I dont mind them being a #7).

Because...........

he coughs up the puck too much and just kinda fires the puck wherever. In my opinion he just brings some speed and abit of motivation. There is better D to go for in FA

I think that was the case in his first game or two, I really like how he's played in the last few though, in the last 10, only Weegar has fewer giveaways with 2, Stetcher has 4. The more I watch this season the more I put together that I don't think Zadorov is a really easy guy to play with. Don't mix that up for me not liking Zadorov, I think he's had a great year, growing up I played D my whole life and there are just some guys that are tougher to play with because they're either pinching, caught in the rush, not supporting on a regroup etc. etc. it leads to Zadorov's chances but I think it can leave his partner a little high and dry.

I read the other day, only in Canadian markets do fan bases quarrel about a 5/6/7 defenceman so much, this is what that is! Hahaha, I don't mind Stetcher, you are probably right, there will be targets in FA for sure.

Haha makes sense and I get what you mean but I'd just rather not have him come back. Wish we could get Gio back for 3rd pairing. Now that would be great
