23-24 with Lorhei

Created by: jpetes250
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 30, 2023
Published: Mar. 31, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is assuming Lohrei signs and is NHL ready like many of his coaches and scouts are saying. Getting Vaak back as he can rotate in and out with Lohrei if needed and is slightly cheaper than Zboril.

I'm expecting Merkulov to make the team out of camp as he is lighting up the AHL, Lysell I'm not too sure. It will most likely be Beecher and McLaughlin battling for the 4C spot, maybe Kuntar too.

I think it is likely that Bergeron comes back.

Getting rid of both Hall and Grz I think is needed in order to bring back guys like Hathaway, Clifton and Freddie. I don't see Bertuzzi or Orlov coming back.

Bruins aren't trading Forbort.

You'd have to take this years 2nd out of the CBJ trade, Its practically a 1st for 1 year of Grzelcyk. I like it as a Gavi replacement but its only a 1 year replacement not long term. Zboril is more or less just depth which we dont really need unless we are as injured next year as this year.

I would think the Bruins would want the CBJ pick because of that reason, but I agree, it would probably be a later 2nd round pick unless it is a sign and trade to extend him.

I've seen this trade many times, both from Bruins' and from Caps' perspective, but I don't think Caps should do it. The value is fine, but they should get someone younger.

Vaaks plus picks for Grzelcyk... what would your asking price in picks be?

I think it starts with a 2nd, even if he is a 7D the Bruins were high on him at one point so maybe that's all it takes, especially if he's not extended. After all, unless a team REALLY needs the player off the B's roster, they're going to be selling low. Columbus has been known to want Grz, I'm not sure how much he fits the needs of ANA.

Yeah, I don't think the Ducks are in a spot where they start trading away 2nds so doesn't sound like this is a fit.

We'd rather use Vaakainen as trade bait to get someone useful from a cap strapped team such as Boston or Minnesota. A 4th may be his value but a 4th doesn't help us shore up our own defense.

As to Gryz, we're not adding 2nd round picks for pending UFAs.
