We had our choice between Hughes, Bouchard and Dobson. No one expected Zadina to fall. It sucks. We're always reminded of it. But every team blunders at the draft at some point. The best ones don't make it a habit.

I'm guessing Stevie would've drafted Dobson. But we'll never know. Kenny was going to draft Bouchard before Zadina fell to #6. He said Hughes was too small. Funny how Kenny ended up with Bouchard in Edmonton. All I remember is Kenny smiling like a butcher's dog after he drafted Zadina. And Jimmy Benning looking like the cat who swallowed the canary after being gifted Quinn Hughes. LOL

In theory it was perfect, and if Zadina was the player he was touted on, Red Wings would be a hell of a lot better, but man its hard to not want to just remove the NA scouting sector seeing how good Hakan Andersson is.

Detroit isn't currently surrendering the 43rd overall pick for Neal Pionk. Make it 2024 2nd and it's a deal.

And Florida doesn't have the cap space for Mark Scheifele.
