No you're 100% right and the cost is the gas money I need to drive him there for you.

Jokes aside idk, maybe a lower end prospect a similar age? Maybe part of a larger deal for a d-man?

He’s got decent value. He’s not a bad goalie, but his team doesn’t play any defense.

He’s had great games, and he’s had terrible games. I think UPL could go elsewhere and figure it out. You don’t want to trade the next Gustavsson for nothing.

He's had maybe 2 great games. and then like 12 really bad ones. Gustavsson had a 915 in the AHL at the time of his deal. Luukkonen couldnt crack 900 at the time of his callup

If pionk were even mediocre defensively Id take him in a heartbeat

On the other hand, if he were even mediocre defensively he probably wouldnt be the first guy a lot of Jets fans want rid of.

Nothing. He's a goalie that is unproven. If you make him available, he gets low ball offers as they'll be a half dozen better options in free agency and term never matters as the goalie carousel continues to spin each and every year.

Buffalo has had terrible defenseman in the AHL for the entirety of his tenure. Gustavsson has had more capable defenseman in Belleville… which says a lot about Rochester tbh.

UPL played four games in 20-21 and 9 in 21-22 with a .906 and .917 save percentage in each respective year. He’s taken a step back this year, but it’s not unprecedented. Gustavsson had a great start in Ottawa. He played nine games and had a .933 save percentage. He got shelled the next year, and then was shipped out for a veteran tandem goalie in Cam Talbot. I think it’s way too early to write UPL off tbh.

I think it’s more likely that Comrie is the odd man out and Levi and Luukkonen will be the goalie tandem in Buffalo for the foreseeable future. If Buffalo were to acquire a solid defense partner for Power and a 4th line center who wins draws and improves the penalty kill the team would already be a lot better.

I doubt he`ll be traded, but Sabres would be looking for established NHLer, preferably RHD, not the picks nor prospects

I don't think he'll be traded but I could see a UPL for Stanley making sense for both teams.

Winnipeg would do that. Both assets are expendable and probably would benefit from a new start

Winnipeg would do it, but I don’t see why Buffalo would trade a promising young goalie for a guy who grades out as one of the worst defenseman in the league.

It happens all the time. Players lose favour. Vrana just got dumped for a 7th. Then for some reason Granlund got traded for a 2nd because Hextall wanted Mikael 2 years ago at the TDL when he was productive. Teams target players and ignore trends. Buffalo has been looking for a big D since they lost Myers.

    Great conversation.
What is the value of a 23 yo GK who won the rookie of the month but has a sub 0.900 SV for the year? Not much right now.
None of the defensemen know how to tie up a skaters stick or clear the front of the net.
If you want to see a perfect example of D-zone incompetiance, https://www.nhl.com/video/fox-ties-the-game/t-336570278/c-16301252 five skaters around the net and none of them can find the puck.
Eight more games, Levi and Luukkonan could start 3 more games each, while Comrie and Anderson start one more each, just my guess.

They need another Samuelsson. Stillman has been okay since he was added but I think the goal will be for him to be the 7th at the start of next season. I'm starting to think Adams might go with Levi and UPL next season and try to slide Comrie through waivers.

Imagine just being happy with simply a Samuelsson especially with this tire fire defence that set a record for home goals against (30) in a 5 game span since expansion 2 weeks ago.

I swear ppl here rather not use logic than admit they were wrong. Truly something to behold with no accountability and anonymity
