Remove Chaisson, move Moose to the Wing, add Kasper as 3C, and then I agree with this.

Personally unless Kasper blows it away in his trial here I believe he should be in Grand Rapids. I would still remove Chiasson but bring in someone with some physicality to their game. Hathaway, Acciari or my favorite Foligno.

His point pace matched Raymond's in his D+1 at a much more defensive role. Raymond obviously made the jump immediately (and although retrospect it might've done Raymond well for an extra year in the AHL), Kasper's game is already well polished.

Is Fabbri going to be able to play again? I don't know about Chiasson I think he deserves a spot until his play says otherwise. He is playing better than Erne, Luff, Czarnik, Veleno and Zadina.

I don't see how this is improving really. You replace Hronek with a lesser player and add a backup goalie. The kids just being a year older iisnt really improving. .

No idea. .I wouldn't be disappointed of he never returned. I don't mind Chiasson but meh he's old. I would rather have physical and defensively sound forwards to help shelter the young guys and make the team tougher to play against. I don't mind the idea of trading Zadina. He's alright and could maybe blossom but he is getting surpassed by younger forwards now. Veleno is another one of those I would move on from. Use them in deals to improve other areas or something.

I think it's alot the players improving as the get older.

Chiasson definitely should be brought back on a cheap deal. He's only 32 he's not old lol.

That Severson deal is scary as hell

He'll be 33 in October. 2 year extension MAX no more than 2 mil. He won't get that, just saying what I wouldn't do

I'm not saying he should play no matter what but he is obviously a player that wants to be here. He is 32 and playing in the AHL with out a pro contract Yzerman signs him and gives him a shot and he has made the most of it. I don't think he should be written off even if he doesn't make the team and plays in the AHL. He has the qualities that made The Grind Line so popular in the 90s. Does he make the team next year who knows he is 32, but he is almost 10yrs older than Veleno and Zadina and in 13 games he has out worked both of them and earned a spot on the power play.

And if the only thing Detroit gets out of it is an example of hard work paying off it will be money well spent. With a young team that could go a long way.

Severson is better than Hronek defensively. Hronek just puts up a ton of points. Adding a developing edvinsson and berggeren Raymond and seider also help. Again they won’t be a playoff team but they are getting close especially if kasper establishes him self as a top 2 C (but that’s a big ask for a 19 year old)

I don’t think it’s too bad. It is a decent deal for a 2nd pair RHD through the rest of his prime. By 34 defensemen are usually pretty serviceable. And with the cap going up over 6 years by the end it won’t be so bad.

Too much term for a 4th line center. I've heard Devils fans say Severson is terrible defensively. Veleno should also be playing.

I hope thats the case. With not a very vast free agent market this summer, I just worry there are a few candidates for future anchor contracts. Even with the cap going up. Him being a potential one. I guess my comment is partial ignorance, as I haven't seen a ton of his game. He seems pretty active and creative offensively but I haven't seen a lot of details in his overall game. I guess I just had other options in mind for 2RD. Schenn comes to mind. I mean that's a guy who is old yes, but will likely get a big raise this summer because of his experience and strong season in Vancouver. Plus teams like Detroit will have money to spend. Overpaying above new market price for a guy like Schenn for 2-3 years seems like a better and safer play than Severson 6x6
