Next Year Rangers with Chytil deal

Created by: mvp13

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 1, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Laffy gets offersheeted, then they'd need to find a way to dump Goodrow and give him all that money. Not sure if there's a big enough risk of someone trying to sign him for more than 6million right now... at least, somewhere that Laffy would agree to sign, anyway. MTL probably has their sights more on PLD to do it, plus, they are likely sore after the whole debacle with CAR to try it again. I see everyone talking about offersheets, but it's such an incredibly rare thing to happen... I would be surprised. Either way, I matched him with what Kakko got. I think that's fair for now given consistency issues. If some crazy offersheet were to happen, then it'd have to be Goodrow out, and Miller gets some less money. But, hopefully they can all come to terms before this happens.

I usually give Miller the Lindgren deal, but I think he's been showing such a better game that he certainly deserves more. It could be a longer term deal, I was just trying to get him to pass Igor's expiry. If Lindgren and Fox didn't have the childhood chemistry, I'm sure it'd be Miller and Fox as the #1 pair by now.

Alt top 9, if the Kids refuse to work well with others again:

Panarin - Zib - Kreider
Laf - Chytil - Kakko
Othman - Trocheck - Goodrow

M NTC.Goodrow is virtually untradable without taking cap back. I assume the Rangers would want to keep Miller and if LAF is offer sheet is too rich...so be it.

Eh, I don't agree. He's a really versatile player. Solid bottom 6er, can play top 6 minutes if injuries arise. Plays well in center or wing, kills penalties. A team like ANA that has a bunch of cap and skilled players with not many gritty dudes could use his services for sure. But yeah, the 12 team no trade list definitely sucks. It'd be a cap dump for sure, but it's entirely reasonable to be able to move him without retaining salary. The cap skyrockets next year which lessens his cap % to be more reasonable

You tell me how they do it. One of them would have to take far below their market value and several other moves would need to be made

I can see Kane taking a big discount or maybe he gets hip surgery this off-season and they LTIR him until the playoffs .
I can't see Taresenko taking a discount at his age. They'd have to move off of one of their young guys to keep him

Don't want Kane on NYR, he done a lot and deserves respect but basically is just a liability on the top 6 and more streaky than any of Kakko, Chytil or Laffy. So resigning him would be a waste of roster spot and money.

So tell us what is Goodrow's motivation to be traded to any non playoff team or any team with cap? (which are poor teams) No, the cap is not scheduled to skyrocket.

I recommend reading more of what a M-NTC is... Goodrow submits a list at some point of 15* teams (the amount of team varies per contract) he would not be traded to. That's leaves 16 teams that he can be traded to. He doesn't get to choose at the trade, this list is submitted at a certain time. And the cap is currently set to be 87.5mil the year after this team, and 92mil the year after that... I would consider that a sky rocket considering the state of the cap the last several years.

(* = I thought it was 12 before by memory, but it is indeed 15.)

We'll say what the cap is. Right now it's 1m increase. 15 teams not traded to. So many teams are near the cap the wouldn't take him on. So he puts no trade list of Canucks, San Jose, Anaheim, Arizona,
Hawks, Nashville. Wings, Sabres, Habs, Capitals, That's 11. I'd be hard pressed to name other teams that really want to take on 3.6m contract.
