Lol. Hutson blew Hughes out of the water this year and it wasn't close. Hughes wasn't even one of the 10 Hobey Baker nominees LOL.

Milan Lucic has real size and physicality, is he better than Jack Hughes?

very different when talking about a small forward vs. a small D. I might also add Hughes has a few inches of height and 27 pounds of weight over Hutson.

Hutson is 5'10 and 165. At 18 there is plenty of time to put on 15 pounds

Fox also has a few inches of height and 30 pounds of weight on Hutson, that's not nothing when considering the NHL transition.

Only 1 inch more and weight can be gained, especially since Hutson has clearly not hit physical maturity. Hutson got all he need to be a future top pair D

Multiple players have shown that small size doesn't mean you can't be a star in the NHL. Hutson's skating is far from bad. Very few Defenders dangle through teams like him. Don't cry too much when Hutson becomes an elite first-pair D in Montreal.

I didn't say he CAN'T be a star. But his size makes it unlikely. And yes hutson is a good skater, but he is a level below a guy like hughes who is on the level of only a few guys I've seen (2 of whom are his brothers)

you should look at farrance page, i think you made a mistake. maybe you are confusing him with someone else! he had 9 points in his first year compared to hutson's 48. was it another player you were thinking about?

I'm referring to farrance last 2 years at BU when he was playing the role Hutson plays now

Time will tell, however, your "higher competition" thing doesn't mean as much in the NCAA. Look at A.Fox. Hutson is better than him at the NCAA level while Fox was playing in a very similar, if not slightly weaker division than Hutson.

Fox is a pretty poor example. He was a 3rd round pick

Premium Walmart maybe. I doubt he reaches Q.Hughes level, but 60ish points is what I think he gets to, however, his potential is what makes him special since he could be a 70+ point Defense

I think he is going to need a stable partner to let him grow. I'd say if he becomes a 50 point guy, you should definitely be very happy with that

50, I'd be satisfied, but far from surprised.

he played the role of freshman? that makes no sense. how can you pretend to know something about hockey and say thatna rookie and someone with 2 years experience can be compared.

definitely not out of the question that he becomes a solid NHL D, I just think you need to temper expectations. Even 5'10 180 if he put on some size is relatively small for an NHL defenceman, it'll be an uphill battle, moreso than he's ever faced for his size, to make the NHL transition - much less to become an all situation top pairing D in the NHL.

Like i said, there is a reason you cant compare a freshman and a sophomore players in ncaa, or a 18 year old with a 20 year old. Like if you dont understand that simple basic fact you have no credibility what so ever.

You literally can. You just have to acknowledge the age. Hutson is being put in the same role that Farrance was in his last 2 years, and is putting up the same numbers. Which tells you that Hutson's numbers aren't as impressive as you think they are.

alright i'll use your argument to show how it makes no sense in another context. in 2016-2017 sam steel played 1c for the regina pats in the whl. he scored 130 in 66 games.

last year, conor bedard played 1c for the regina pats. In the same role as steel, he scored a 100 points in 60 game. Therefore bedard had worse stats than steel playing the same role. Bedard's number are really not impressive as you think they are.

Except the turnover period in a 5 year span for the WHL is 100%. Farrance and Hutson had the same D partner in fensore

Im just using your logic and argument, not.my fault if you feel it doesnt make much sense. just trying to show when you dont take into consideration the age of the players like you are, you can make all sorts of comparison that dont mean much. doesnt matter if they played with the same player, farrance did it at 20 and hutson at 18. world of difference.
