Taking back all that essentially dead cap to get so little value for Karlsson?

Gallagher is untradeable as an asset, armia too, you are effectively retaining 9.9 million for 2 years and 6.5 million for 2 more on Karlsson and only getting barron?

I call it, the Grier way. I agree with you.

Genuinely curious why you’d give away labanc for so little. His on ice impacts are pretty impressive even without the point totals

Again, the Grier way as far as my expectations go. I'm not even being facetious or being overly despondent. Grier has a track record of overpaying for guys he wants and cutting loose decent guys for too little. Objectively, Labanc's worth an early 3rd/late 2nd on a pending UFA deal. For whatever reason, Quinn hasn't liked his play so it's a safe bet to postulate that he'll likely be moved in the offseason.

You are severely underestimating Griers value as a GM. He is young and has made some decent small moves. These moves are completely unfair for what he can do, let alone purely idiotic. No GM is dumb enough to do either trade on Griers standpoint

You have zero clue what you're talking about. You're just an irrational Grier hater. How can a GM have a track record AT ALL that has been a GM for less than a year.

Who has he overpaid? The biggest contract he's given out is Ferraro at 3.25 mil which is very fair value. The other contracts are low risk low reward contracts. Sturm and Benning are the longest term deals and are proving to be absolute steals.

As for his trading habits (again way to early to say he has a track record of anything) but he's so far looked for a return of future assets, and a lot of them at that. Meier got a a top d-prospect, depth d-prospect, young middle to top six NHLer, and potentially two Firsts (one guaranteed). The 2022 12th overall got a late first and two seconds as a return. Neither are consistent with what you're proposing here.

You're right in the fact that Grier has the guys he likes and goes after them but so far it's payed off very well. Took a risk to get Thrun and he's been great, I'll take Kaut over Merkley any day, Peterson has been great in the NHL where Reedy likely is a career AHLer, Bystedt and Havelid were "reach" picks but are looking like absolute steals.

My bad, Came in hot there in the first two sentences. See too much irrational Grier hate for things he's done very well, and I'm kinda sick of it.

The remaining still stands though.

Armia and Gallagher have a LOT of negative value, that would be like retaining at least 50% on EK

Ek at less than 6.0 AAV x 4 years is going to cost A LOT more than Barron lol

Idk rather EK65 sit in the press box for 4 years at $11.5 mil than do that Montreal trade

Nobody is taking the full EK65 cap hit. Armia is an easy buyout so this is Gallagher and Barron for full price EK65 with 2 good years left while the Habs are rebuilding.

Montreal never does this.

Erik Karlsson isn't waiving for Montreal, he wants to win a cup. Not happening in Montreal.
