Yotes trade

Description
I see you habs fan yelling at me that Farrell will be a superstar, that his ceiling is really high and we should not trade him right after 3 games.

I am myself a habs fan. this trade suggestion is not linked to his performances this year. I just really like Crouse, he's young but has couple seasons experience. He got size and talent. I do believe Farrell will be very good in NHL even with his small size, but I think habs need to sort his small players, I don't think we can have a competitive team with 4-5 small players. We already have Caufield, RHP, Harris and Hutson coming, Farrell or Mesar could be very nice assets to get proven player.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Buffalo is a placeholder. Might be traded anywhere for picks. Could be flipped at TDL. On a healthy roster, MTL just don't have space for him if we want to give Ice time to the kids since we won't be targetting a playoffs spot next year.
BUF
  1. Edmundson, Joel ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Excellent vet in the locker room. Could be useful on a 3rd pair and PK, physical stay at home defenseman. If healthy he could be a very good player for a playoffs team.
2.
MTL
  1. Crouse, Lawson
Additional Details:
Trade frame is Farrell for Crouse. I know it's not enough, what would habs need to add to make this deal fair?
ARI
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Farrell, Sean
Additional Details:
Armia isn't a value asset, he's just there to fit the cap.

Don’t believe your finding fair, both teams are striving for the same thing on there youth movements, Arizona has a limited group of players buying into create the nucleus going forward and committing to Arizona and he is one of them.

If I'm AZ I am asking for a second with Farrell and a second to dump Armia

Farrell, Armia, Philly's 2nd this year, Colorado's 2nd next year.

Farrell is going to be very good IMO, but Crouse is better than Anderson and Habs fans (myself included) seem to think he is God.

Edmundson "Could be useful" . . . "If healthy he could be a very good player" . . .

That risk, plus the fact that he's a rental, is why he's not worth a second, in my opinion, to any team . . . especially a second in this year's draft.

Sorry but I am not interested in trading a potential 60+ point top 6 winger for a 40 point guy just cause he has size. I see Farrell as at least a 60 point guy but his potential is much higher (he could hit 80+) as he has Marner esk qualities to his game. You really want to risk giving up the next Marner too early cause you wanted size? I don't!

Edmundson is not worth a 2nd and I can guarantee Buffalo won't be the team to trade an early 2nd for him. They went and got Stillman who they seem to like.

Nope. He's in conditional pick territory now because of those question marks.

As for Crouse vs. Farrell, we need a high end playmaker more and should take a serious look at whether Farrell fits before making a decision. We aren't in a position to be trading for wingers as we have a couple we need to unload simply to make room to evaluate what we have.

Not sure what part of ''Buffalo is a placeholder'' you don't understand.

Also rentals are traditionnally overpaid. You were certainly one of those who said Chiarot wasn't worth a 1th and you probably never thought Kulak would fetch a 2nd and yet. Those are really quick exemples in the recent years but there are tons of other exemples I could list!

Cool beans but you deliberately chose Buffalo to make this AGM so I'm just quelling any potential of that trade ever being made in the way it is proposed. Kulak is a 3rd pairing guy and Chiarot is borderline 7th D. The fact that any team gave up more than a 4th for either of them just shows how dumb some GMs are and how badly Montreal fleeced them
