So are you winning the draft lottery and giving the habs bedard to even out that deal?

Matheson is Montreal's best defenceman. He's playing like prime Jeff Petry right now, is affordable, and a hometown guy. He'll cost what Ekholm got if you want him. He's not the cap dump you seem to think he is.

Preds would be smart to take that, I think.

Vlasic costs 2 first to dump. Matheson is worth 2 first. The rest evens out. You owe MTL 4 1st

Okay lets break down the Habs trade

Matheson is worth at minimum a 1st rounder

Allen could probably get a late round pick

Armia cap dump could cost a late 2nd or early 3rd and a prospect like Vrbetic

Lorentz is probably an AHL for the Habs, but takes a roster spot so not worth it

Vlasic makes 7m for 3 more years. Thats at minimum 2 1st rounders to eat that (Monahan cost 1st rounder and he was 6m for only 1 year)

So the Sharks would have to give up the value of 3 extra 1st rounders to make the Habs even look at it

Only way I see this ever happening

Allen, Jake
Armia, Joel
Matheson, Michael
Vrbetic, Joe
2024 2nd

for
Lorentz, Steven
Vlasic, Marc-Édouard
2023 1st SJS (Either 3rd, 4th or 5th overall)

or
Lorentz, Steven
Vlasic, Marc-Édouard
2023 1st (NJD)
2024 1st (top 5 protected, Sharks have a choice to send pick or make it 2025 1st unprotected)
2025 1st (top 5 protected, Sharks have a choice to send pick or make it 2026 1st unprotected)

10x, maybe more. Crazy. I love Fabbro as a player, but this is just so much

Dude Barabanov has put up better numbers than Tarasenko, and you're giving him 8.5 mil for FIVE years?? He's worth no more than 5.5 and should nto be signed longer than 3 years

Everything here is so awful for the Sharks

I'll take Benning over Fabbro. That contract is way too good and he's had over double the offensive production and been one of, if not the best shutdown d-man on the team

Not even close Benning has more value than Fabbro right now
