Rangers would have a hard enough time matching a 6.1mil offer sheet, why waste 4mil extra?

there are better RFAs out there to pull something like that on, specifically Byram from COL. Also signing him to a 1 year deal like that will give him a QO of something like $12M which means he could easily walk as a UFA the next summer. Funny idea, but foolhardy.
