This is a massive tragedy for the young man, and details surrounding the death have not come out yet, but I have a hard time believing he ended up in a pond of his own accord.

This is awful. I can’t imagine having someone you looked up to passing to “unexplained circumstances”. (I do agree with your comment on the pond)
