Olofsson is of no use to the Hawks (and no they won't take him to flip him for some grand return later to justify value on a Murphy trade). The Murphy ask is going to be a first adn probably even need a small add. The only thing that makes any sense between Buffalo and Chicago for Murphy is a first round pick (pick whatever year you would like) or Isak Rosen. The Hawks already have plenty of 2nd/3rd round picks upcoming and will have no problems using cap space to add plenty more. They are going to be looking for assets that have a much higher liklihood of actually hitting.

The trade value you propose is probably not that far off of fair, it is just a bit to much quantity and not enough quality. The Hawks would also probably retain to enhance the return on Murphy (like they did with McCabe) which would make him more attractive to other teams. Buffalo is not all that cap constrained and ownership will spend money so retention for Buffalo doesn't move the needle as much as it might for teams tight to the cap that need to get creative.

Hawks probably don’t trade for Olofsson. 3rd line guy getting paid almost 5M a year
