If there's no arena project finalized within the next year or so, this is going to look even worse than it already does.

Sharks would do this in a heartbeat! Arizona and Vlasic say no.

Huge issue.

It’s almost guaranteed that Vejmelka wan’ts to be a starting goalie. If the was dealt to the Islanders, he would be wasted as Sorokins backup who we all know is one of the best in the league. There are plenty of UFA’s that the Islanders could go after who’s cap hit would be lower than Vejmelka. Halal is just one example.

It’s also really stupid if the Yotes traded Vejmelka. There not a great team and are not anywhere close to being a contender but if they trade Vejmelka it could just put them even farther behind in the rebuild. Ingram and Ned as a tandem would be quite iffy. Probably would be best to just hang on to Vejmelka.

100% this would be a problem. Last polling that I saw was the project had around a 70% approval rating from the voters. Once they included the tax only from purchases made in the entertainment district to pay back the city bond (sewer, power, utilities) for adding the infrastructure to the plot of land the voters mostly are all in.

I would not make the Severson signing but everything else is pretty good. Duda has potential to step into a top4 role next year or maybe 2 from now.

Geekie is not quite ready so probably be a 9 and done to get his taste and find out what he needs to work on.

Vlasic has a full NMC. Only way he leaves is via buyout. He himself has made this very clear. Not a chance he waives to AZ. He only has 3 years left. Sharks are more than happy to keep him in the roster until they are competitive again.

You're are totally underselling Vejmelka.

Sharks do that deal in a heartbeat, Just that Vlasic doesn't waive for Zona nor does Zona take on his caphit.

It makes no sense for SJ. They have cap space and aren't competitive so why would they give up a 1st to dump cap. Easiest no in the world for SJ. Ride out his contract until they starting winning.

Buyout cost 2/3 of his contract and 6 years of dead cap! A late 1st to move 3 years 21 mil is not a bad swap!

He still has to give a 3 team trade list and he can pick 3 teams, I would assume 1 is Montreal and the other 2 are NYR and TOR because neither team will trade for him.

'23-'26 he submits a list of three teams he'll accept a trade to. How much do you want to bet that AZ is not on that list lol

It'll be two contenders and Montreal. Not a team that plays it's home games in a 5000 seat college arena.

I don't know how I'd feel about it if I were a resident. I hate the idea of publicly funded stadiums (I *THINK* I remember seeing the Yotes were looking for 30-40%?), but the project from top to bottom seems like a huge boon to that area.

I'm also a bit jaded because of the ridiculous MLB stadium projects that have left taxpayers on the hook while billionaire owners get off scott free.

No public money used on this project other than the city infrastructure bond ($300M) that will be paid off by a 1% tax on all purchases made in the entertainment district, no other city tax will be used. The owner is privately funding the entire project, 3.2B, and has already put a non-refundable deposit down with the city. Bluebird (owners company) is also paying the fee to conduct the public vote that the Coyotes requested happen.

Ah, I can absolutely appreciate that then. Would just really, really love to see them succeed. Just started reading about it again here, now that you've booted me down the rabbit hole...I get remediating the landfill, but I'm curious as to where does it end up?

Metro Phoenix has several waste management facilities a couple that are capable of handling radioactive waste so shifting any of the stuff the city was dumping pre 1950s to one of these facilities is a simple process. Just needs to be done and costs money. Money that Bluebird is willing to spend.
